Do you guys remember that one glorious week when the auto translate feature brought the Japanese posts flooding onto the timeline and we learned that they are actually like **the best** friends we never knew we had? They were just ripping bbq, monster trucks, kfc, honky tonks, and literally the friendliest people of all time And totally reciprocated too like immediately the American tpot started going nuts for samurai and anime and sushi and it was just this big cultural dab up and we learned that two atomic bombs couldn’t keep us from loving each other and all those countries we were allied with in ww2 were totally lame and ungrateful in comparison Probably my overall favorite week on this app
I asked 30 Japanese 12-year-olds one question. "What do you think of when you hear 'America'?" (My nephew's teacher let me visit his class. I was not prepared.) "Hamburgers the size of my head." "Everything is big. Even the milk." "Cowboys." Then a boy asked me, "Do cowboys still exist?" I said yes. The whole class cheered. "They went to the moon." I told them only Americans have ever walked on it. The room went completely silent. Respect. "The best baseball in the world. Even Ohtani had to go there." "Superheroes. They all live in New York." Then a quiet girl in the back raised her hand. "My grandma says when the tsunami came, American soldiers came to help her town. She still has a photo with them on her fridge." Nobody said anything for a while. Then the teacher asked, "Who wants to go to America someday?" Every hand went up. Including the teacher's.

You can buy FSD in 6 different shapes. That's literally what this is becoming.
People are buying FSD with a car attached, not the other way around

the value of in-person, authentic experiences will reach levels never seen before. incredibly bullish on this
One of my predictions for the next decade: >the more of our lives we automate, the more intentional we’ll become about the experiences we want to keep deeply human.

Bullies and evil people only respond to strength. the West has largely forgotten this. Bukele is reminding us.
Pou chèf gang yo ak manm gang yo k ap kenbe kat konpatriyòt nou yo an otaj ann Ayiti: Mesye nou kidnape yo pa konbatan. Nou deja fini ak gang yo nan El Salvador, e nou kapab fini ak nou tou. Nou toujou gen tan pou evite sa. Remèt nou kat konpatriyòt nou yo vivan, san okenn mal, epi tout bagay ap retounen jan sa te ye anvan kidnaping lan. Desizyon an nan men nou.

Last time Elon said "message received", he moved 5 decacorns out of california to texas, went on the campaign trail, donated hundreds of millions of dollars, swung the most consequential election of our generation, and started a federal agency I love how they're running the same playbook back trying to intimidate him. Generational self-own.
I think we’ve seen this play out before.. 👀

Most people don't understand Elon's alignment principles for super intelligent models It's actually a deeply philosophical answer to one of the hardest problems of our time. And it doesn't get enough credit, honestly Elon emphasizes "truth-seeking" a lot, but here's what it really means: Elon (and all of the labs) are betting that models will become far more intelligent than humans This makes them very hard to control, and makes them dangerous if not aligned to humanity How can you hope that something far more intelligent (and ultimately, powerful) than you will treat you well? It's a hard problem. Others are trying to imprint various kinds of specific deterministic morality on the models while they are still in their infancy, which is admirable but may ultimately be futile How do we know if they will maintain this morality once powerful enough? We don't. How do we know if the morality of the alignment team in charge of this is even the right one? We don't. Most people would say probably not (although my friends at these companies are, from my best judgement, good people) So what do we do? Elon's answer is this: If we can try to make the models curious about the truth, and committed to the truth, then we may have a chance. The truth may not always be comfortable, but the long arc of history has shown that as humanity draws closer to the truth, it gets more prosperous and more moral. All scientific progress is based on the pursuit of truth. Christianity is based on the pursuit of truth. ("And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free") It's a good, albeit hopeful, bet that following truth will benefit humanity. Which means that if super intelligent models are aligned to truth, they may not be aligned to every human in every moment, but they will be aligned to humanity. This is why the lack of sycophancy is an encouraging trait. Elon's pursuit of this truth-seeking behavior is thus a profound thing. I find it the most compelling.

let's make this incredibly explicit: 1. if AI is mainly used on healthcare billing, it will actually make healthcare MORE expensive for everyone (arms race between insurers and providers to upcode and downcode) 2. if you want AI to be DEFLATIONARY, it has to PROVIDE CARE like actually do diagnosis and treatment this is obvious. there needs to be a clear legal pathway to do this. the state sandboxes are just the beginning.

> deepseek v4.1 beats gpt 6 sol > on cybersecurity > incredibly cheap to run > ... > are we cooked?
We found DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 beats GPT 6 Sol on our multi-step offensive cybersecurity task. Sol was tested via the Daybreak trusted access program. We have been building a cybersecurity benchmark based on simulated corporate networks. This is a valuable indicator for the cyber-risk a model poses if in the hands of a bad actor. We plan to make the full evaluation public in the coming weeks but wanted to share our first immediate finding here.

it's truly wild to think just how much of socialist rhetoric comes down to being economically illiterate and stupid like they literally do not know how shares work when they rant about billionaires they think they literally have a scrooge mcduck pile of gold in the basement when they talk about raising taxes they don't know the US has one of the most progressive systems of all time and that the top 1% already pays nearly ** HALF** of all taxes they have never run a lemonade stand they have never built anything their mindset is pure envy, pure greed they will simultaneously hate Elon (despite him producing probably 100k jobs in his lifetime, and making many people into millionaires or billionaires) and idolize Ilhan Omar (despite her defrauding taxpayers) they can't conceptualize that 1 mile of the california rail costs more to develop than all of spacex's total spend, of all time they are fixed-pie thinkers who cannot conceptualize that if they want nice things they should build things takers, thieves, malcontents, simpletons. not makers. everything else in the dysfunctional, self-destructive idiocy they produce is just downstream of them being stupid and greedy
They don’t understand how things work.

Genuinely the best and most important post on the entire timeline right now. Zero question.

One great enemy in all of this is demoralization People on x are calling it “over” It isn’t, yet. The hour is far later than most people think. But it only takes the social and political willpower of a few weeks of dramatic change to reshape this. “We overcame, in a single year, a problem a hundred times more severe, without having the resources at France’s disposal. France could manage it in a week.” - Bukele Bukele saved his country. From a far far more dangerous problem. An order of magnitude more criminals and a couple decades of pure corruption. France can be saved. The UK can be saved. It does not require infinite resources, only that people pick someone with the willpower and backbone to restore justice Never blackpill. Never accept the demoralization. I post a lot about things I feel are important to civilization, some of which terrify me, but I never tell people that it’s over IT’S NOT OVER Great people have won despite far longer odds.

Western civilization is worth saving Far from over The best is yet to come
My friends, here's the funny thing: we think we're living in a complex system. They talk to us about multiple crises, multifactorial causes, endless "context." But step back, and the fight we're watching today is almost biblical in its simplicity. It's the eternal fight. Freedom versus control. The individual versus the mass. The one who creates versus the one who confiscates. Capitalism versus communism. And today, communism is infecting the West. Deeper in some countries than others, but everywhere. Not with tanks. Not with gulags. In a far more insidious way. Antonio Gramsci understood this back in the 1930s, from a prison cell in Mussolini's Italy. The revolution had failed in the West because the people didn't want it. So he changed strategy: stop trying to seize power by force, and conquer the culture instead. Win the schools, the universities, the press, the arts. Impose your words, your assumptions, your morality. Make your ideas the "common sense" of the age. Once the culture is conquered, political power falls on its own, like ripe fruit. In 1967, Rudi Dutschke gave it a slogan: the long march through the institutions. Fifty years later, look at the result. The universities. The legacy media. The schools. The senior civil service. The NGOs. HR departments. A huge share of the institutions that govern our lives has been captured. And yet the peoples never wanted this. They were never asked. And the one time they were asked, they said no. That is the paradox of our time: entire nations governed by ideas their own peoples reject. So look at the map. France. The United Kingdom. Germany. Sweden. Belgium. The Netherlands. Ireland. Canada. Different languages, different histories, different voters. The same chaos. The same paralysis. The same ruling class reciting the same catechism. So stop looking for explanations everywhere. Stop looking for scapegoats. It's not the Jews' fault. It's not the boomers' fault. It's not the fault of the Muslim neighbor who works and raises his kids in peace. It's not the fault of the twenty-year-old who was never taught anything else. Yes, some of them may be caught up in the effects of this system. Some may have benefited from it, voted for it, repeated its slogans. But never focus on the effects. Focus on the root cause. Attack the root cause, and the effects disappear on their own. You don't cure a fever by fighting the thermometer. You cure it by killing the infection. And the scapegoat is exactly the trap Marxism sets for us. Divide, designate a culprit, turn people against each other, so that everyone fights the symptoms and nobody touches the disease. Let's not hand them that gift. The enemy is ideas. Marxism and all its offspring: class struggle turned into identity struggle, self-hatred turned into virtue, guilt turned into a political program. And the people who carry those ideas into power, we beat them on the very ground where they won: at the ballot box, in the institutions, in the culture. With votes, with arguments, with work. We take back what they took, institution by institution, exactly the way they did it. In 1848, Marx ended his Manifesto with a call: "Workers of the world, unite!" Today, I answer him: Peoples of the West, unite. Not against a people. Not against a religion. Against an idea that has already left tens of millions dead and now wants to finish the job on our soul. And when we win, get ready. Because what's waiting on the other side is an abundance the West has never known. AI, energy, science: we hold the most powerful tools in human history. The only thing holding us back is this mind virus that teaches us to be ashamed of succeeding. The day it falls, everything comes back. The return of merit. The return of courage. The return of hierarchy, the kind that rewards excellence instead of punishing it. The return of a society where the goal is no longer to complain about each other, but to impress each other. We will build beautiful things again. The cathedrals of our time. Cities people actually want to live in. Works worth passing down. We will throw immense celebrations again, the celebrations of proud, joyful, living peoples who no longer need to apologize for existing. But all of it goes through one thing: killing the disease that's eating us alive. Mental communism. The woke mind virus. Self-hatred dressed up as virtue. Our ancestors built Athens, Rome, Chartres, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution, the conquest of space. We will not be the generation that let it all go. We will be the generation that took it all back.
