I was lucky enough to spend the day with Wendell, his wife of 69 years, Tanya, and his daughter, Mary, who has created the extraordinary Berry Center to further his life’s work. I’d visited Wendell and Tanya several times at their kitchen table, and certainly hoped this wouldn’t be my last visit. But just six weeks later he was gone. Here’s an excerpt from part of the day I’m so glad I filmed.

An audience member's husband calls his CSA box "the scary box:" bags of greens but no instructions. We loved this exchange because Chef Sarah Stegner's answer to it was better than ours would have been!
Ever gotten a CSA box and had zero idea what to do with the nine bags of greens? You're not alone but here's why farmers and Chef @SarahStegner love them anyway. Watch this moment from our @aspenideas Climate conversation: ow.ly/o8Iw50ZEYWU

Reposting this clip about SNAP because many of us haven't registered how fast this is moving. Arizona's rolls cut in half in a year. Massachusetts has lost 80,000 households, nearly 50,000 of them children. This isn't abstract policy. It's someone's kitchen table.
New work-requirement rules just raised the bar for who qualifies for SNAP: age thresholds moved from 55 to 62, and childcare exemptions dropped from age 14 to 12. States must now cover up to 75% of admin costs they never paid before. The impact is already visible: Arizona's SNAP rolls have been cut in half in a year; Massachusetts has lost tens of thousands of households, including nearly 50,000 children.
