Haya has just given birth to their baby girl by C-section and is recovering in the hospital. Before the genocide, Mohammad ran a small trading business, while Haya worked as a qualified schoolteacher with official teaching credentials from the State of Palestine. Their home and livelihood were destroyed, forcing the family to live in a damaged tent that offers little protection from the cold or summer heat. Their sons Abdulrahim and Hassan have severe allergies to legumes and related foods, requiring a special diet that is difficult and expensive to maintain. Haya has also been in poor health throughout her pregnancy, and the family now faces a large hospital bill following the birth. They urgently need baby supplies, clothing, a bed for Haya, a crib for their newborn daughter, rent, food, and drinking water for their growing household of nine. Their longer-term goal is to establish a small community learning center run by Haya, allowing her to use her teaching experience and qualifications to provide affordable education for displaced children while earning an income for the family. The support received over the past days has been encouraging, but they still need substantial financial help to cover their immediate expenses and work toward rebuilding their lives.
