WHERE ARE THE SOLO MINING BLOCKS?! ⛏️
CKPool: 286% of expected work
Parasite: 228%
AtlasPool: 128%
Across their respective droughts, that’s ~6.4 blocks’ worth of work with NOTHING to show for it.
Screw you, variance.
SHOW ME A HOME MINER BLOCK.

Pool Directory is live.
Every pool we track now has a profile with hashrate, payouts, stratum details, verified blocks, and StratumRace data.
What’s missing? What would you like to see? Let us know.

Curious where everyone lands on this. I keep seeing “mine on your own node,” which can be great. Every miner should learn how to stand up and secure a box, build Bitcoin, tweak configs, and understand stratum.
But if you’re just clicking through a GUI with default settings and trusting package maintainers or vendors to provide updates, haven’t you simply traded pool operator trust for package maintainer / vendor trust? Is that really decentralization, or are we just cosplaying as sovereign?
True decentralization requires understanding. Solo pools fill a vital gap by providing a battle tested, low ops entry point while you learn, install, break, fix, rinse, repeat with your own setup.

I had a blast helping with this project. It was eye-opening on several fronts. Big thanks to @AtlasPool_io and @proofofmike for including me.
1. Atlaspool is faster and more optimized than any node or pool combo you're likely to run at home. And the data shows how fast it is compared to other outside pools. If you want maximum performance, you may as well switch. The realistic goal for self-hosted setups is just getting as close as possible.
2. Your own node probably is not that fast on block notifications. Even with config optimizations, peering makes the biggest difference you can control. Tor only or Tor plus I2P or non-listening nodes adds noticeable lag, probably seconds. I'm testing clearnet only with fast, high peer counts, and it helps so far. You will probably never fully match Atlaspool. It's just better connected than a home node.
3. Rental hashrate changes the picture. Pool mining Datum/Ocean on your own node works great. Solo mining on your own node is not so great. You add extra lag from remote miners falling even further behind on block notifications.
4. Not all pools are equal. The data makes this obvious for both external pools and local instances. Datum edges out the CKpool variants as the fastest locally. The external pool results are strong enough that anyone serious should switch to a better-connected pool immediately.
Fun stuff. More people should run this block notification tool and see for themselves.

Always be testing and building and have fun with it.
We spent three weeks tuning our Ashburn endpoint for lightning fast block notification speed.
The results:
• Won more notification races than any other measured solo pool (499 blocks measured)
• Delivered complete templates faster than F2Pool, MARA, and every other pool observed
• Beat a local Umbrel node 84% of the time from 1000+ km away
Full writeup with data, methodology, and tools so you can verify it yourself!

I connected 7 of my miners up to AtlasPool.io last week. Loving the access point being so close to my location and the fast response times between miner and pool! The Dashboard they provide is among the best I've seen in terms of information provided to the end user.
