A 1989 paper published in @NEJM checked vital signs and norepinephrine (NE) levels before, during, and after bedside rounds. While the BP increased a touch, the HR did not. Neither did the NE levels. We don't yet know these data for interns... pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2797…

Veratrum alkaloids can cause nausea, vomiting, muscular weakness, dim vision, bradycardia, coma, and convulsions. The veratrum alkaloids are thought to have sodium channel opening properties that contribute to their toxicity. Treatment is supportive care.
