"Put Alan Wake 2 on Steam if you're really that pro-consumer" Ooooohh
I love this guy!!!
Former Valve dev Chet Faliszek has fired back at Epic CEO Tim Sweeney over his latest attacks on Steam.
Sweeney claims Valve is holding PC gaming back and criticizes Steam’s AI disclosure rules.
Faliszek argues that these disclosures help players make informed decisions:
“You’re just treating players like they’re stupid.”
He also points out that Epic’s own Fab marketplace uses AI disclosures.
And his response to Sweeney? Put Alan Wake 2 on Steam if you’re really that pro-consumer.
This was a given, people's jobs and wages were never going to be the only thing affected 😅 I'm surprised they didn't see this coming. Wouldn't be surprised if their solution is more ads, something that will ultimately push people towards competitors

Man with a hot dog stand: is a really bad idea to cook your own hot dogs. Trust me.
sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources
“a lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre
but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time
you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment
somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of that”
One day we need to talk about the dangers of letting investors with no skin in the game or passion for the product control all the stakes

Scammers are why getting 10k on PayPal has a waiting period of about 24 hours and receiving anything close to 1000 risks your account.
They’re fucking up things for everyone.

Hold on guys, I think Sweeny cooking here. Valve has absolutely held gaming back for years.
Valve has held gaming back from being one of the most ad-infested, customer screwing, review hiding, no player count having hobbies ever.
Truly, Valve are the real villains here. Tim Sweeny, the guy who fired 1000 people this year, has a much better platform that we should ALL admire.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney says Valve "has held gaming back for years."
Sweeney was replying to Kiaran Ritchie, a former principal animation programmer at Epic, who criticized Steam's 30% cut and said "You could vibe code a Steam alternative in a week." Sweeney wrote that Valve locks developers' PC games into "Steamworks' social walled garden where players can't talk to other players on iOS, Android, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or even other PC stores."
A community note was added saying many games use Steamworks only for authentication to allow crossplay and handle the rest themselves. Sweeney called the note "fake," saying Steam Datagram Relay "isn't related to the things I cited: social, and players talking to each other across platforms."
