Today, on National Missing Persons Day, we pause to honor the millions of families affected by the disappearance of loved ones and to renew our commitment to finding those who remain missing. In the United States alone, approximately 600,000 missing persons cases are reported each year through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), a figure that encompasses both children and adults. In Canada, approximately 70,000 individuals are reported missing annually—a reminder that this is not just a local issue but a cross-border concern demanding unified attention.
These numbers, while sobering, also underscore the critical need for community vigilance, robust law enforcement support, and the sustained work of dedicated organizations committed to reuniting families. Every missing person is more than just a statistic—they are a loved one whose absence leaves an indelible impact on families and communities.
Join us in advocating for increased resources, improved strategies, and stronger community partnerships so that every missing person can be found and every family can have the answers they deserve.

💔 28 YEARS MISSING. 28 YEARS WITHOUT ANSWERS.
Today, October 26, 2026, marks 28 years since 9-year-old Dorien Deon Thomas disappeared from Amarillo, Texas.
On October 26, 1998, Dorien was riding his aqua-colored bicycle near Northwest Ninth Avenue and North Lipscomb Street when he vanished.
Neither Dorien nor his bicycle has ever been found.
He was just 9 years old. A little boy who should have had the chance to grow up, celebrate birthdays, make memories, and live his life.
Today, Dorien would be 37 years old.
28 years is a lifetime of unanswered questions. Someone out there may know something about what happened to Dorien that day.
PLEASE DON’T LET DORIEN BE FORGOTTEN.
If you have ANY information about Dorien’s disappearance, please contact the Amarillo Police Department at 806-378-3038.
Dorien deserves answers. His loved ones deserve answers. And after 28 years, we cannot stop asking questions.
Please share his story, especially throughout Amarillo and the surrounding Texas communities. Someone may remember something.

💙 TODAY IS NATIONAL STOP BULLYING DAY 💙
Bullying is not harmless. It is not a joke. And it is not just kids being kids.
Words hurt. Exclusion hurts. Humiliation hurts. And sometimes, the damage lasts a lifetime.
Teach your children to be kind. Teach them to include the child sitting alone. Teach them to speak up when someone is being mistreated. And most importantly, lead by example.
Bullying doesn’t stop when we become adults. It happens in schools, workplaces, communities, and all over social media.
You never know what someone else is going through. Be the reason someone feels included, valued, and loved. Not the reason they question their worth.
💙 Kindness costs nothing, but it can mean everything.

💙 REMEMBERING KENDRICK JOHNSON 💙
Yesterday, October 10, would have been Kendrick Johnson's 31st birthday. Instead of celebrating another year of his life, his family is left with memories, photographs, and the heartbreak of all the years they never got to share with him.
Kendrick should still be here. He should have had the opportunity to grow older, chase his dreams, make memories, and experience everything life had waiting for him.
Kendrick was just 17 years old when he was found deceased inside a rolled-up gym mat at Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia, on January 11, 2013. His death was officially ruled accidental, but his family has disputed that finding and has spent years fighting for answers and justice.
More than 13 years have passed, but Kendrick's name has not been forgotten. Behind the headlines, investigations, and controversy was a young man whose life mattered. He was someone's son, someone's brother, and someone who deserved the chance to grow up.
Kendrick's story is about so much more than how his life ended. It's about the life he lived, the future he never got to experience, and a family that continues to fight for him.
As we remember Kendrick on what would have been his 31st birthday, our hearts are with his family and everyone who continues to honor his memory.
Please take a moment to remember Kendrick Johnson, say his name, and help keep his story from being forgotten. 💙❤️🧡💛
Happy Heavenly Birthday, Kendrick. You deserved so many more. 🕊️

💜 BELIEVE SURVIVORS.
Imagine finally finding the courage to tell someone you’re being abused, only to have them question your story, minimize what happened, or ask what you did to cause it.
For many survivors, the fear of not being believed is one of the reasons they remain silent.
Abuse doesn’t always leave visible injuries. Survivors don’t always react the way people expect. And not everyone is ready or able to leave.
You don’t have to understand every decision someone makes to show them compassion.
When someone trusts you enough to share what they’re experiencing, listen without judgment. Don’t blame them. Don’t pressure them. Let them know they are not alone.
Sometimes the words “I believe you, and I’m here for you” can make a world of difference.
💜 October brings awareness. We keep it going.

Everyone is talking about Christa Pike today. We want to talk about Colleen Slemmer.
Colleen was 19 years old when her life was taken in Knoxville, Tennessee, in January 1995.
But before her name became forever connected to a murder case, Colleen had a life.
She was from Orange Park, Florida. She loved roller skating, running and miniature golf. She loved computers and would build and take them apart with her stepfather. She traveled to Tennessee to attend the Knoxville Job Corps Center, where she was studying computer programming and building a future for herself.
She also had a heart for others. Colleen volunteered with Special Olympics events and worked with children with disabilities.
She should have celebrated her 50th birthday on September 20.
Instead, her mother, May Martinez, has spent more than 31 years without her daughter.
And yesterday, May and her husband made the long drive from Florida to Tennessee to witness Christa Pike’s scheduled execution. More than three decades later, Colleen’s mother is still showing up for her daughter.
There will be countless conversations about Christa Pike and what happened during the execution.
But please do not allow Colleen to become a footnote in her own story.
Her name was Colleen Ann Slemmer.
She was a daughter. A sister. A student. A young woman with plans for her future.
She was 19 years old. She was loved. And she mattered. 🕊️

Today, on World Suicide Prevention Day, we want to remind you of something that can be difficult to believe in your darkest moments:
Stay. Tomorrow needs you.
Stay for the people who love you.
Stay for the moments you haven’t experienced yet.
Stay for the places you haven’t seen, the people you haven’t met, and the memories you haven’t made.
Stay because this moment, no matter how painful, does not get to write the rest of your story.
And if all you can do today is make it through the next hour, then make it through the next hour. You do not have to figure out your whole life today.
Please check on the people you love, including the ones who seem strong. Listen without judgment. Take someone seriously when they tell you they are struggling. Sometimes simply knowing someone is willing to sit beside you in the darkness can make a difference.
You matter. Your life matters. Tomorrow needs you.
If you or someone you know is in crisis in the United States, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If there is immediate danger, call 911.

When someone goes missing, a photo becomes one of the most important tools in helping bring them home.
A clear, recent photo gives the public the best chance of recognizing someone as they look today. Hairstyles change. Facial hair comes and goes. Glasses, clothing, and appearance can all be different over time. The more current the photo, the easier it is for someone to make that connection.
That doesn't mean older photos aren't valuable. If a recent photo isn't available, sharing the best photo possible is always better than not sharing at all. Every image helps keep a missing person's face in the public eye.
If you have a loved one who goes missing, try to provide the most recent, clear photos you can. Photos that show their face without filters, sunglasses, or heavy editing can be especially helpful.
A single photo has the power to spark a memory, catch someone's attention, or lead to the tip that brings a missing loved one home.
Thank you for helping us keep missing persons visible and remembered. Every face matters. Every share matters. 💙❤️🧡💛
