Are we preparing Africa’s youth for tomorrow’s jobs, or training them for a world already changing? At @WeElevateAfrica in Accra, Axum explored this through a session on skills and youth-to-work pathways in the age of AI.
Three priorities stood out: practical AI skills that match workplace needs; removing barriers to young people entering work; and measuring employment outcomes, not just training completion.
The conversation continues beyond the convening. From January 2027, Axum will launch a webinar series to turn these priorities into action and bring young people into the discussion. What skills will matter most for Africa’s youth?

Joining the panel next is @SKunkyebe88167 of @ASU , who has spent over 15 years supporting young people as they transition from education into the world of work.
At Skills That Last: Building Youth-to-Work Pathways in the Age of AI, Sylvia will bring her experience in building the pathways and ecosystems young people need to thrive, particularly as AI reshapes the future of work.

AmaliTech trains graduates and employs them in IT service centres across Ghana, Rwanda and Germany. Since returning to Ghana in 2019, Matthew has pursued a goal of creating 1,000 jobs at home.
Matthew brings valuable experience to the conversation on how to bridge the gap between skills training and paid, lasting employment, particularly as AI reshapes entry-level opportunities for young people.
