As a movie that I feel was the baseline for how dragons would move and be animated with CGI from the 2000s onwards,
Its a sweet discovery to learn one of the lead animators of Reign of Fire, Atsushi Sato, was actually brought on for Godzilla Minus Zero to help animate Ghidorah.

In my early 20s I was doing harm reduction outreach with a group of sex worker activists when I commented that a motel lobby smelled like bug spray.
I’ll always remember one woman’s reply: “Baby, that’s crack.”
Now I know!

Do not go looking for Hotel Transylvania concept art if you don't want to feel depressed for what could have been
"Why doesn't the final character design ever look as good as the concept art?"
Because the designs they come up with in concept art are iterative and are often found to not be easily readable in 3D space under different lighting conditions or with different facial expressions.
They also have to be easy to animate when budgets are constrained, and have to be possible to make into a toy for merchandising.
There's also just plain old marketability. A design that's too exotic risks alienating potential audiences. That means it has to follow current trends and recognizable shape language.
Also, sometimes the concept art you see is from a completely different conception of the character. A character's personality and role in the story can change significantly over the course of production or development, sometimes going from a villain or side character to a protagonist or vice versa.

"A German-American billionaire from South Africa is plotting with the Freemasons to raise up a Protestant antipope in Nashville" is the sort of thing you'd expect to find in a bad Walker Percy imitator, and yet the Lord Himself has written it on the canvas of history.
NEW: In leaked recordings, Peter Thiel argued that Nashville should be a moral alternative to Pope Leo XIV and the Catholic Church, which he called “a dubious ally” against a hypothetical future Antichrist Democratic president.
“America is the last and final form of the Roman Empire,” Thiel told a closed-door crowd in Nashville’s Masonic Temple. “There is no successor.”
He has attacked Pope Leo XIV at least four times this year, once calling him “a useful idiot for the CCP.” thelettersfromleo.com/p/the-…
