Artist! Quote with the drawing you are still obsessed with!🫵 My "Fantasy Winery" cover art for ADVENTURE HAVENS: BREWERS, DISTILLERS, AND VINTNERS (published June 2020). The work it took to get this one right still ranks as my most agonizing drawing experience to-date.

I gather some non-AI-using artists are now being accused of using AI and are being piled-on. What. The. Fucking. Hell? Folks have to stop this sort of crazy-net shit RIGHT NOW! Good grief, people, as if artists aren't stressed out enough already!

RIP, John Leeson, who provided Doctor Who's K-9 with a voice that was endearing and full of spirit. His voice acting was a big part of why that robot dog became so beloved by so many. doctorwhonews.net/2026/11/jo… Time to watch a Doctor Who episode with K-9.

Tried to vote today, during last day of early voting in NYS. When Michele and I got to Town Hall, it was clear that the lone voting machine there had broken down and the volunteers present had no clue how to fix it (if it could be fixed). I'll try Tues. at my usual polling place.

One might almost get the idea that there were NO artists and NO game developers and NO musicians prior to the advent of AI, but that's truly a silly notion because generative AI has been built upon the works of past artists, game developers, musicians, and so on.
So, I'm not a real artist, then? Yeah, sure!

When I was writing articles for small-press zines, an editor of one such publication asked if I could come up with an article about the manticore. At first I thought the topic too narrow for an entire article, but the more I dug into it, the more I found. alteredrealitymag.com/mantic…
From 2007 to 2020, I also actively wrote nonfiction articles for various edited small-press publications. ChatGPT was released in 2022.

So, AI bros are panicking? Wondered if they might be. Oh, well! After all the horrid things many of them have said about artists, they'll get no sympathy from me!
Replying to @AzureLionProd
Ah misread it. Because I've been dunking on panicked AIDudeBros recently who cannot give me a straight answer as the bubble bursting looms closer to the US, and CAPS LOCK has been the common reaction.

Us Gen Xers did it, repeatedly. I graduated high school in 1986, community college in 1989, and university in 1992. There was no such thing as ChatGPT or other LLMs when I wrote terms papers for high school and college. Heck, there wasn't much in the way of word processors.

I've been doing art for sale to the public since 1999, long before my wife went to law school as a returning student, graduated law school, took and passed the bar exam, and became an attorney.
Even though I ended up getting a bachelor's degree in biology and my wife ended up becoming an attorney, we did all that on our own after we got married. When we got married, we both had associate's degrees. Prior to getting married, we'd worked in the same department store.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again — my family was working middle class. My step-father (only father-figure I knew) was a professional firefighter. My mother was a senior personnel associate (glorified secretary) in a personnel office. Neither one had a college degree.

"Having the time and resources to learn to make art by hand is reserved for the very wealthy..." What a moronic statement! Never been wealthy, but I'm a self-taught artist. I create art using artist pens ($4/pen) on Bristol board ($10/pad of 20 sheets).

I can't get over the fact that some folks seemingly fail to understand that other folks might have little to no use for generative AI and have no real desire to adopt using it for work. As a matter of fact, some of us are sick to death of AI being shoved down our throats!
>"I have to assume you've never done any serious work using AI."< Yep, you're right! I tried using AI once, at the behest of an editor/publisher who I used to do work for who had become deeply involved in AI, but I was less-than-impressed and decided it wasn't for me or my work.

I use my home computer for work purposes (I'm self-employed). I need a certain amount of RAM to do my work. Sam Altman can go to Hell!
