Not long now… Heading for the mountains and dropping down into Turin and then on to the resort. Photo taken on the ferry. Our learners were impeccable on the ferry, unlike other schools!

We've had the best day-enjoying a tour with Caroline and learning about @UKParliament with the wonderful @GeraldJonesLAB as well as having a whistle-stop tour of the amazing sights in London. Our Senedd Ministers are now heading home. @BishopHedleyRC @Illtyds_RC @StAloysiusRC

Even if you do not believe in saints you cannot fault the human sacrifice that this man made. He laid down his life for another. St Maximilian Kolbe #legend
In July 1941, three prisoners escaped from Auschwitz. As a warning, the Deputy Commander ordered 10 men to be chosen to be starved to death in an underground bunker. When one of the selected men Franciszek Gajowniczek heard he was selected, he cried out “My wife! My children!” At this point, Fr. Kolbe volunteered to take his place. The Nazi commander replied, “What does this Polish pig want?” Father Kolbe pointed with his hand to the condemned Franciszek Gajowniczek and repeated: “I am a Catholic priest from Poland; I would like to take his place because he has a wife and children.” The men were led away to the underground bunker where they were to be starved to death. It is said that in the bunker, Kolbe would lead the men in prayer and singing hymns. After two weeks, all the prisoners, except Kolbe had died due to dehydration and starvation. Because the guards wanted the cell emptied Fr. Kolbe were executed with a lethal injection. Those present say he calmly accepted death, lifting up his arm and blessing his executioners.

Last day teaching in the old girl before she’s knocked down and becomes a 3-16 school. Very emotional day as a former learner and now a leader of her. Thanks for everything you’ve done for me! #hedleymatters

Year 3/4/5 enjoyed an afternoon with Mr Horne programming and coding the drones. They measured the distance the drone needed to travel and tested them in the hall. @BHHSICT #bcaCoding #article29 @MerthyrCBC @CSC_RARSMerthyr @CSCJES #EducationPlayYourPart
