🚨 CRYPTO: CIRCLE PUSHES EU TO FAST-TRACK DLT REFORMS AND EXPAND STABLECOIN SETTLEMENT RULES @circle just told European regulators to move faster or lose the race to the U.S. In formal feedback submitted March 20 on the European Commission's Market Integration Package, Circle backed proposed changes to the DLT Pilot Regime but said current limits still choke liquidity and institutional participation. Key asks: replace fixed regulatory thresholds with "adaptive" ones tied to market conditions. Create a clear path from pilot phase to permanent rules. Fast-track changes outside the normal legislative timeline. On stablecoins: Circle wants MiCA-compliant stablecoins recognized for securities settlement but warns that limiting access to only "significant" tokens could exclude euro-denominated stablecoins. It also wants crypto service providers, not just banks, to be allowed to offer settlement accounts. On supervision: limit centralized ESMA oversight to large cross-border firms. Let smaller players stay under national regulators. On collateral: clearer rules for using stablecoins as collateral, pointing to the U.S. and UK already moving on this. The subtext: the U.S. is building onchain market infrastructure faster. If Europe doesn't adapt, tokenized activity migrates west.
