For two years, while we’ve been rabble rousing, Birmingham’s @flatpack festival have been working on a fully costed alternative to Glenbrook Property’s desire to bulldoze what was the UK’s oldest working cinema. The 116yr old Electric on Station St. Here are those plans:
I love this! Go and download it and have some fun (at my expense 🤣🤣🤣). A new immersive, AR-Location based, self guided music heritage (with current venues included of course!) for visitors to, & residents of, Birmingham! Available in Android and Apple App stores 💛
Introducing Brum SoundTracks! A location-based augmented reality app that brings Birmingham’s iconic music heritage to life. Working with @jezc, we created an app exploring Brum’s iconic venues, discovering facts and archive material along the way. Read: bit.ly/47AzsOs

Part of what made working on visualization for @SinnersMovie so fast was access to the Fab Marketplace and Quixel Megascans from within Unreal Engine.

NEW BOM DIGS IN AT DIGBETH
Big news from Birmingham Open Media (@BOMlab): the city’s pioneers of creative tech and digital art have just snapped up 120–122 Great Barr Street, securing their forever home right in the beating heart of Digbeth.
Next door to Digbeth Loc Studios and perched prettily on the Grand Union Canal, the freehold Victorian seed mill is one of the area’s last remaining architectural gems — and BOM’s plans for it are as bold as they are sensitive.
A full restoration will bring the building back to life as a fully accessible hub for immersive production and digital skills, blending heritage bricks with future-facing tech.
The move marks a major milestone in BOM’s 11-year journey, allowing the organisation to scale up its impact — delivering cutting-edge learning programmes and opening doors for underrepresented young people and adults keen to break into the creative industries.
Renovation work begins soon, with the big move to Digbeth slated for late 2027. Expect old-school industrial charm meets digital brilliance — and another big win for Birmingham’s creative core.
