The final day saw a great turnout from students and industry professionals, reflecting strong momentum behind sustainability in the built environment. Including in-depth discussions and live demonstrations showcasing the impact of BREEAM, SmartWaste, and BRE Academy.

“Local authorities will be crucial in this journey and require the necessary data, capacity, funding and powers to deliver energy efficiency improvements to homes most in need.” Jane Goddard, Deputy CEO of BRE.
Today, we launched BRE’s briefing looking into the priorities for the Warm Homes Plan, outlining a path to upgrading the UK’s housing stock and calling on all levels of Government to increase the uptake of energy efficiency improvements.
While sharing the fantastic news that for the first time in history over half of British homes have energy performance ratings of at least EPC C, the report also highlights a significant number of EPC E, F and G homes still in need of targeting to mitigate high costs and health risks to homeowners across England.

While high-performing buildings have access to green finance and resources, the majority of existing buildings remain locked out due to a lack of capital.
📄@BRE_Group's new report with the Green Building Council of Australia, the Singapore Green Building Council, the U.S. Green Building Council and Alliance HQE - GBC calls for stronger policies and taxonomies to direct capital toward underperforming buildings.
It advocates for context-specific, performance-oriented criteria, tailored to diverse building types, to make sure investment reaches all buildings.
With the #builtenvironment responsible for a significant share of global emissions, unlocking investments for the underperforming majority of buildings could help us decarbonise at scale.
