Today's #ootd is this 1889 Worth cape. The cape is made to showcase this extraordinary fabric, "Tulips Hollandaise." It actually won a gold medal at the 1889 World Fair in Paris. It was designed by A.M.Gourd & Co and manufactured by Morel, Poeckes, & Paumlin #FashionHistory

Composer Felix Mendelssohn, born #OTD 1809, could also paint. Here’s his view of the Amalfi Coast ■ & handwritten MS of his “Schilflied” (Reed Song) with his watercolour illustrating its words “On the lake’s unruffled surface rests the moon’s fair beam” (1842, Bodleian)

I once crocheted wire bullets on a train - to an audience of furrowed brows - this beats it! Amen🙏
Learning lines on a train is fun. Slightly unnerving the person across the aisle from me by quietly reciting the requiem mass in Latin.
