My passion wavered a little bit but now I'm back to playing my guitar.
γ…€γ…€ believing oneself is beyond improvement is to invte stagnation. γ…€γ…€eight years is no small feat, my friend. may thy passion never wane, nor thy desire to improve falter.

That's the things with any arm form, even when you're at a pretty high level you can always learn more. I've been playing eight years and I'm still trying to get better.
γ…€γ…€tweleve years, if my memory serves correct. though time hath refined my skills, i remain ever a student of the strings.

"I'm not falling anymore so that's progress."

It does. It requires a ton of time and patience. A lot of failures too.
It can. And, evidently, you can still make friends. It just requires more time and patience.

Now he gets the sleep paralysis comparison. That and making friends is a crucial part of childhood. He's heard how not making friends early on can make someone feel incredibly isolated.
It can be scary too. Especially when you're a kid. Because the fear centres in your brain treats speaking like a direct threat. So you're in full panic mode but you can't say anything and sometimes you can't even move. Sometimes you can even feel disconnected. ---

Understandable, he hasn't considered how it must feel to be someone with selective mutism. It must be frustrating to want to speak just to end up freezing in response to anxiety.
Selective mutism is strange. You can speak, you might even want to speak. Often you do want to speak. But the anxiety just creates this freeze response. The best way to describe it is like sleep paralysis or a small scale panic attack but with your voice.

My girlfriend is way out of my league but I probably shouldn't complain.

"I think I get what you mean. I've never had to plan anything but I think I wasn't very flexible with my ideals. I think that's the tricky part about adopting an ideology, it's hard not to get stuck in that mindset."
"On one hand someone with strict ideals is easy to work with in the sense of comfortable predictability,I also find they tend to be less flexible when it comes to planning."

Really ? He won't lie, initially he thought he had been too unapproachable. He knows even back then he didn't ooze charisma or friendliness. If it makes her feel better, he didn't take any offense to her not speaking for the first six months.
In fairness she'd wanted to talk to him from the start but selective mutism, ironically, isn't very selective.

"Explain how so. I'm also not arguing against you by the way, I just want to hear a different perspective."

"Isn't that what a person would want ?"
"Someone who strictly abides by personal ideals."

"An ideo-what ?"
If i had a nickel for every ideologue I met around here I'd have two nickels.

That is true but she got there eventually and it's like they say good friendships don't happen overnight.
Which is mildly baffling because she couldn't even talk to him properly for the first six months.

"Maybe but I'm not stressed. Sure training and school work can take up a lot of my time but I can handle it. If anything I feel pressure to be more relaxed and super outgoing."
"I dunno. Some people can be serious because of stress and pressure rather than it being their actual personality."
17
"How am I supposed to know ? That's just the way I am. I'm just...serious."
"If you don't mind me asking, why do you take everything so seriously? If you take things too seriously all the time, you'll get burnt out."

Luffy ? I meeeeean , I guess. Might need a black wig or if you got a suit, you could be the cook guy.

"Exactly, that's the problem. I'm not as chill as everyone else, I take most things pretty seriously and I'm not good at joking." "I've just never really gotten along with people in my age group."
"Don't know why. Most people seem pretty chill here."
