Hopefully an interesting contribution to the GOAT debate! Feel free to chime in with thoughts. I am sure there is much that isn't factored in... World XC wins for example. Thanks to @citiusmag for the opportunity and @BackstraightB for help with athletes from before my time!
Sifan Hassan Atop The Greatest Female Distance Runner Of All-Time Debate
📰: citiusmag.com/articles/sifan…
"Some might argue that if she had focused on perhaps the two main distances of 5,000m and 10,000m she could have collected many more than the five global golds she has won to date, and the desire to attempt the crazy triples may have impacted the ability to claim gold in some of the events over the past few years.
However her sheer ability to succeed across more than just two distances at any one time is ultimately what outlines her greatness and sends her very much to the head of the GOAT distance runner debate, for now at least."

Athletics is a truly global 🌍 sport
Could even argue that a medal in track and field means more as you’ve shown you’re better than what pretty much every single nation can offer, especially in something as universal as 100m
It's all about tiny Caribbean islands tonight.
St Lucia 🇱🇨 population 178k 🥇
Dominica 🇩🇲 population 72k 🥇
Jamaica 🇯🇲 population 2.7m 🥈🥉
Grenada 🇬🇩 population 124k 🥉
This is why we ❤️ athletics

Even if it was the entire population of Dominica watching Thea LaFond’s triple jump gold, there would seats still left over at Stade De France

#Swimming Because Jack McMillan gets a gold medal in the 4 x 200 for a swim in the heats I make it that this is the first time a gold medal winning GB team has included representation from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

Finally, ATFS statisticians have updated their w100m AT list in the latest edition of "ATHLETICS 2024"👍
FloJo 10.49 is no longer at the top of their AT list!
They put her 10.49 in an appendix with the words "doubtful wind reading"👀⬇️
I had a dream one day WA will do the same...

I probably ought to tag the @BackstraightB as I've just listened to their pod complaining that they never can find the stream.
