#MondayBlogs 8 Writing and Publishing Lessons I Learned From Writing 8 Books | by @BadRedheadMedia geni.us/8Lessons What eight books taught me about fear, rejection, marketing, and the writing life...so far. I've written eight books as of this date: self-pub’d, hybrid, had an agent, directed a hybrid imprint, worked with two small boutique publishers, and have owned my own book marketing biz since 2011. I work in the industry. You’d think I’d understand how publishing works by now. And I do, mostly. Yet every time I publish a book, some ridiculous, hopeful little part of me still thinks: Maybe this is the one everyone will chitchat about at work. Maybe I can just eat bonbons and hope my book sells millions. Maybe readers will magically find it cause that always happens… I know better. We all intuitively know better. And hope is not a plan. And yet, we all still want ‘it,’ whatever ‘it’ means. Some of my books have won awards, some have sold better than others, and some found readers long after I stopped checking rankings. I’ve written humor, three books for writers (marketing, SEO, and the dreaded branding), and three deeply personal books about childhood sexual abuse, trauma, and healing, and been included in several anthologies. Writing each one affected me differently. I learned plenty, though not always while writing; sometimes it took years to understand what each book taught me. 💥 Shout-out to my exclusive advertising sponsor, the always-free Booklinker (universal book links—so helpful!), and the paid tool, GeniusLink. I love both💥 (affiliate link). These aren’t my truths about developing character arcs, the politics of commas, or the single best way to market your work that works 100% of the time (if you find it, please share). These are the truths I’ve developed from writing, publishing, and marketing eight books of my own, and hundreds of others. Read more: geni.us/8Lessons Always Free to read and subscribe!

#MondayBlogs Badass & Broken, or Formidable Survivor? | James Herman Kleiger ow.ly/xMjp50ZkOqm "My new novel, Pareidolia: Illusions, Deceptions and Murder, is the latest installment in the Nicola Kitts psychological thriller series, featuring my protagonist, who, like the characters Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Sethe from Toni Morrison’s Beloved, embodies both brokenness and badassery. The list of such memorable female characters – often described as “badass” and broken – is extensive, spanning classic figures like Jane Eyre and contemporary ones like Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games trilogy). Each, like Kitts, has been wounded by trauma and loss yet has emerged with fierce determination, strength, and perseverance." Read more 👉 Free to read and subscribe. ow.ly/xMjp50ZkOqm

#MondayBlogs 🍂 10 Practical Ways to Save Your Book From Failing Sales by @BadRedheadMedia geni.us/MarketingFreeAndPaid Your book isn’t selling. Before you decide you need to spend $2,000 on ads, redesign your entire website, dance on TikTok, start a podcast, make seventeen Reels, or fire your cover designer, stop. Poor sales are data. Something isn’t connecting between your book and the people who might want to read it. The question is where. You’ve worked in book marketing for 15+ years, and one of the biggest mistakes I see authors make is assuming poor sales automatically mean their book sucks, they don't have enough marketing, or they haven’t spent enough on ads (it could be any, or none, of those). Maybe people aren’t seeing the book, or they’re seeing it but not clicking; they’re clicking but not buying; or they’re buying Book One and never touching Book Two. Those are completely different problems, and spending more money on promo won’t necessarily fix any of them. What helps is strategy. 💥 Shout-out to my exclusive advertising sponsor, the always-free @Booklinker (universal book links—so helpful!), and the paid tool, @geniuslink. I love both💥 I’ve written before about why book marketing has no easy button, because no single tactic, ad, social platform, viral post, or launch will do all the work for us. So, before you decide your book is DOA, here are five free and five reasonably priced ways to kick your sales in the pants.👖 Click or see bio for the rest!

#MondayBlogs 📕 Why Parental Alienation Hurts: 10 Lessons I Learned the Hard Way by Scott Stockton, Author scottstocktonauthor.substack… My book is now available, and I wrote it to share my lived experience with parental alienation over decades: the agony, the hardship, the nuance, and the spiritual transformation. These are ten things I learned along the way… 1. I struggled to find a book that reflected my lived experience with parental alienation (PA). There are many books written by psychologists and so-called experts on parental alienation, but none written by someone who experienced it firsthand in this way: the agony, the hardship, the nuance, the spiritual transformation. None of these books truly shared my lived experience over decades or connected the dots to the foremost authorities in all related areas so I could understand the problem holistically. 2. Approximately 15% of the population is impacted by PA, so why is it so hidden from mainstream media? Evil is being perpetrated on millions of parents and children, and the media ignores it. 3. PA is not a custody issue. It’s a child protection issue... Click or see bio for the rest! Don't miss out on these important lessons—read now! Have you or someone you know experienced parental alienation? Share your story below... 🙏 Book: geni.us/ParentalAlienation

#MondayBlogs 🗃️ The Past is Never Dead. It’s Not Even Past; It’s Locked in a Box | by "William Faulkner" and @SheilaSharpe19 ow.ly/8HuL50ZZP8F Locked in a Box is my first novel, though it's the second in the Kate O’Dade art crime series. It is the prequel to Artist, Lover, Forger, Thief (2025), and I’m thrilled to see it on Amazon and finally out of my drawer, its long-hidden secrets and lies revealed to the world. As expressed in the title, the central theme of Locked in a Box is how the past and past trauma come alive in the present, particularly in the mind and life of the novel’s heroine, psychologist Kate O’Dade. In Artist, Lover, Forger, Thief, I focus on Kate’s present-day mission to save her former client Nick from forging art and facing revenge and death in the treacherous art underworld. As the prequel, Locked in a Box goes back in time to the exploration of Kate’s life, conflicts, and traumatic past. As a therapist who regularly deals in secrets, lies, and betrayals, she’s an expert at digging up everyone’s dirt but her own—until she uncovers her opera star father’s murder. On the day of her near-death paragliding off La Jolla’s Torrey Pines Bluff, soon followed by being trapped in a dark elevator, Kate flashes back to the night her father died at the Metropolitan Opera. Reliving her near-death in a locked prop box, she sees him dressed for the last act of Carmen, her nine-year-old voice yelling, “I hate you.” Click or see bio for the rest!

🔵 NEW: The Incredible Coincidence That Proved It's a Small World After All by @WorkedForMeBook by Jeff Burgess jeffburgessauthor.com/2026/1… It sure is interesting how long you know someone before you realize how long you really knew someone. What a small world. Lifelong Friendships Can Begin in the Most Unexpected Places Joanne and I first met Liz and Mike McHugh at a Cub Scout Rainwater Regatta event back in 1997. The Regatta is similar to their Pinewood Derby, only with unpowered boats racing in a tub of water, rather than unpowered cars racing down a wooden track. The event was managed by Joanne Davies, who was heavily invested in the Cub Scouts as a Troop Leader. She was a wonderful combination of heart of gold and batshit crazy. I get that, as I am the same way when working on projects... Click or see bio for the rest!

I wrote Grammar Errors Part I. Hundreds of you had THOUGHTS. Here’s Part II (and yes, I know it should be ‘Grammatical’ errors, but that sounds like little green Mike Wazowski in Monsters). Bring your red pen! by @BadRedheadMedia geni.us/GrammarErrors2 1. Your vs. You’re Your shows possession: Your book is on the table. You’re means you are: You’re pretending not to refresh your sales dashboard. If you can replace the word with you are, use you’re. “Your welcome” can’t sit with us. 2. Irregardless The standard word is regardless. Yes, irregardless appears in dictionaries because people have used it for a long time, but that doesn’t mean we agree. Dictionaries record language; they don't come to your house to approve every grammar decision you make because that would be weirdly intrusive. Irregardless is generally labeled nonstandard. In edited writing, please use regardless and save everyone an argument. 3. Conscious vs. Conscience We’re conscious when we’re awake and aware. Your conscience is the inner voice that tells you not to correct a stranger’s typo in the middle of their highly emotional post about blue bunnies in space. Being conscious gives us opportunity. Our conscience tells us, "Stop scrolling already, Rachel. You should be writing.” So bossy... Click or see bio for the rest! Always free to read and subscribe!
