I believe every young Bahamian deserves the chance to discover what they’re capable of. Through the Bahamas Education, Science and Technology Foundation, we’re working to give more young Bahamians the tools, resources, and opportunities to explore their interests, develop their talents, and pursue their ambitions. We have so much talent in this country. I want to make sure more of our young people have the chance to put it to work. 🇧🇸

When we launched this programme, we wanted young Bahamians to leave with skills, confidence, and opportunities they could carry with them long after the programme ends. Visiting the latest cohort of National Youth Guard Recruits at BTVI, I saw young people eager to learn, excited about new skills, and preparing themselves for real opportunities in the workforce. When we prepare our young people for what comes next, we prepare our country for what comes next too.

I first came to Grand Bahama in 1974. I've seen what this island is capable of, and I've seen the difficult years its people have endured. I've never stopped believing in its future. Tonight, I set out a new direction for Grand Bahama. We're already moving forward with major investments in the airport, harbour and Grand Lucayan. But to unlock this island's full potential, we also have to change a system that has been in place for more than 70 years. We are going to change how decisions about Grand Bahama's future are made, so that they answer to its people, investment creates real opportunities for Bahamians, and growth reaches every community. Whether we change is settled. How we change is yours to shape.

Our mission has always been clear: to introduce and continue to expand the National School Breakfast Program throughout The Bahamas.

I really enjoyed spending time with our Youth Parliamentarians as they prepare to take on their leadership roles. My advice to them was to stay grounded, listen carefully, and always remember who they are there to serve. I look forward to seeing what they accomplish!
