I’m so tired of toxic people using the global sorrow to fuel their own comfortable misery and trying to
keep others stagnantly miserable like them there I said it.
New phrase I’m using for negative, miserable people as I excuse them from my reality:
K bye and take your energy with you. ✌️
Once, my empathy says okay maybe it was an accident.
Twice, my intuition says I freaking told you already.
I had no idea all I needed was to listen to an OG Blue October deep cut tonight to feel a little more real in the world again
Someone once told me I have the best weird in town. I'm finally admitting that they were right, and doing something about it. New era launching on my Substack this Friday 9/19. The first post is about cats. Internet people like cats. Subscribe now, get it then.

ALT Text says Neighborhood cats but make it weird. What does it mean when stray cats visit your house? Bailey's version. Available September 19, 2025. bestweirdintown.substack.com. Image behind shows a white cat with gray around its temples stands on my windowsill on the opposite side of the screen just chilling. In the background we can see my blue vehicle and azalea bushes in my yard.
If you're the one who's worrying about whether you're being mean, you're probably not the one who's being mean. 👀
She emerges from the swamp caked with muck which she peels off her body in large chunks. In the algae-cast water, she rinses green silt from her hair, squeegies her face dry with her fingers, then steps through the weeds and says, "Now THAT was a mud bath."
Anyway, I'm back.
#dearintern I created the original website content for a major ag financing institution. On one of the sites, I didn't know what to say about crop insurance for the umpteenth time so I wrote "Crop insurance: Get ye some." Then promptly forgot about it and that copy went live.
How many notes would a note taker note if a note taker started a Substack?

In the same day I was described two different ways:
1. Straightforward and direct
2. Creative word orchestrator, choosing stylized words and turns of phrase when I could have been super direct
Well. Both are true.
And so it goes in content strategy also.

Audience research is not the same thing as showing something to your stakeholders to get their opinion.
Don’t rely on the executive view of your audience to understand their goals, needs, perspectives, values, and motivations.
Instead, go ask them yourself.

Keep saying the thing. About the time you're sick and tired of saying it, that's when people start to realize what you've been saying all along.
You've said it 7,000 times. They just truly understood it for the first time.
Keep saying it.

When you know something deep down about the work you're doing because it's the reason you do it.
And then someone else says it out loud.
It's a first-rate feeling and one worth a humble brag.
