Most people circle Bainbridge Island by boat. Our publisher @MichaelCyger did it on foot. 41 miles, one day, the outermost streets.
41 miles. 13 hours. One island. I walked the entire outer edge of Bainbridge, as close to the water as I could get. Last year I did 36 miles and thought I'd finished the loop. Then my friend Matt told me about a trail and a few streets on the north end that actually complete it. So this year I added them. Started at 4:40 AM in the dark north of Fort Ward, watched the sun come up over Blakely Harbor, got an iced mocha in Rolling Bay that saved my life, took a selfie with Frog Rock, and finished with my son Noah, who walked the last 10.5 miles with me. Thanks to Andrew for jumping in at Murden Cove, Noah for joining at Battle Point Park, and to Blue for the finish line excitement when returning home. Who's walking it with me in 2027?
