Kara came in as an owner surrender due to owner personal health. In the shelter she has been highly fearful, vocalizing and showing defensive behavior when handlers approach to leash her, and has been reluctant to exit the kennel at times. She is receptive to a slow approach. There was one incident where she redirected and bit a handler when she was picked up to protect her from an off-leash dog.
She would benefit from time to decompress and positive, force-free training in a stable foster setting so her behavior can be re-evaluated before a permanent home. Medically she is overweight.

He was surrendered due to his family becoming unhoused. His previous owner describes him as friendly and active. In the shelter he has been highly fearful and will thrash intensely while on leash. He has been observed to pull towards other dogs in the kennel room. During intake he was social with handlers and leaned into them for contact. Medically he is apparently healthy.

🕯️💔 My baby Pongo is gone. And a piece of my heart has gone with him. 🕯️
I don't know how to write this. I don't know how to accept that my beautiful boy, my baby, is no longer here.
Pongo was just two days old when he came into my life. A terrible thunderstorm had separated him from his mother. We never discovered what happened to her.
I raised him like a mother raises her child. He wasn't like other donkeys. He grew up in my office, surrounded by dogs, following me everywhere like a little puppy. ❤️
He was everyone's baby. The doctors adored him. Our entire team spoiled him rotten. Whenever he wanted milk, he would call out loudly until someone came running. And someone always did.
For so long, he didn't even know life outside our little world. Only when he was much older did he finally move to live among the other donkeys.
For over two beautiful years, Pongo was my child. 🫏❤️
Then, suddenly, he became ill.
His blood tests revealed two dangerous blood parasites, Babesia and Theileria. We immediately began treatment. We tested his blood twice, desperately trying to understand why he was deteriorating so rapidly.
Our veterinary team tried everything they could. But nothing seemed to help. He was slipping away from us frighteningly fast.
💔 Two days before he died, I held him tightly in my arms and cried.
I kept begging him:
Please get better. Please, Pongo. You're Mummy's whole world. You have to get better. You cannot leave Mummy.
Somewhere deep inside, I was terrified that I was losing him. But I couldn't bear to believe it.
And today, my beautiful boy left me. 💔
The little baby who followed me everywhere. The mischievous boy who demanded his milk. The darling of our doctors, our team, and my heart.
I cannot imagine walking into my office knowing he will never come running towards me again.
Today, I am sharing some of our precious memories with you. The little moments that meant everything to me, and now mean even more.
I have spent my life rescuing animals, loving them, fighting for them. But some losses break you in ways words cannot explain.
Pongo, my baby, Mummy tried so hard. I wanted so desperately to save you.
You came into my life as a tiny, motherless newborn. I promised to be your mother, and I loved you with everything I had.
I hope you felt that love every single day.

Pongo and Whisper shared the same shed. When Pongo's blood tests revealed two dangerous blood parasites, Babesia and Theileria, we immediately tested Whisper too, especially as he was becoming quieter and weaker.
Whisper's results arrived today. 💔 He has tested positive for the same two blood parasites, with anaemia and elevated liver enzymes.
We fought desperately to save Pongo, but lost him today. With Whisper, we have discovered the infection earlier, and I am praying we can save him.
Our beautiful blind boy came to us frightened and traumatised 18 months ago. Today, he enjoys life so confidently that you would hardly know he cannot see.

Paraguay’s President, Santiago Peña, has been forced to resign in DISGRACE, after shocking details of his MANY connections to what’s being described as the "biggest FRAUD of the century” came to light.
1. Peña was a business partner of the conglomerate that owns Ueno Bank, the largest digital bank in Paraguay, until 2025…
2. Peña personally accepted two “highly irregular private loans” directly from Ueno Bank during his tenure.
3. Peña used his presidential platform to shield the bank from inspectors, aggressively dismissing financial warnings as "fear-mongering" to keep public money flowing into the fraudulent bank.
4. Shortly after becoming president, he appointed Ueno’s former chief executive to run the country’s central bank…
Think about that.
The person overseeing the bank previously ran the bank… The fox was literally guarding the henhouse (we have the same situation in the west..)
And guess who is on the hook to bail them all out? The taxpayer…
AND THATS NOT ALL
1. Under Peña, Ueno Bank started as a niche digital app and suddenly became the government's preferred bank. Funneling MASSIVE State Wealth into his friends pockets.
2. This included LOOTING PENSIONS by forcing ~$380M of workers' health and pension funds into Ueno.
3. While the government was pumping public money into Uneo, executives were quietly shoveling it out in the form of MASSIVE UNCOLLATERALISED “INSIDER LOANS”
The taxes, life savings and pensions of citizens were used as a personal slush fund, with no assets left behind to cover the bad debts.
By the time it collapsed, 25% of all the bank's deposits consisted of public funds….
Opposition lawmakers are FURIOUS, 8 bank executives have been arrested. 27 other bank officials and business associates face severe criminal charges.
Don’t forget, this could happen ANYWHERE. Our banking and market systems are corrupt and stressed. My advice? Save in physical gold and silver.

We have spoken to them and with Andres Pete Salar we have said we will take all 110 if necessary with the help of other protectoras as we did with the Toledo perrera.
We will also commit to vets bills if any protectora has space but not the funds.
We will head out today or Friday with the first to vans to get started.
