Udonis Haslem says his favorite story of Kobe Bryant is him hitting the game winner over Dwyane Wade in 2009:
“December 4th, 2009… Game winner. ‘Hey, you and D Wade make sure Kobe don’t get the ball.’ I’m face guarding Kobe, D Wade is behind Kobe. Ain’t no way in hell he’s getting this ball. This is the first time I’ve been out savaged and I haven’t forgot about it. Kobe threw my ass out the way, he shook D Wade, got the ball, gamed us off the wrong leg going the wrong way. I have never felt so taken advantage of in my life. I didn’t feel physical enough. I felt like he wanted it more than me. I really lost sleep over that. I tip my hat to him. He wanted it more and that doesn’t happen to me at all. King savage. D Wade don’t let me forget about it. ‘You was supposed to make sure he didn’t catch it!”
Happy Birthday, 24 🐐

2009 NBA Finals Game 5 @ABC (talking about Kobe being in the 🐐 conversation, and his greatness)
Mark Jackson: “Putting Kobe Bryant in the discussion with Michael Jordan, at the end of the day just look at this guys body of work, look at the great players & listen to the way they acknowledge him that he’s the best it’s incredible.”
Jeff Van Gundy: “Listen you can have a LEGITIMATE CONVERSATION about that.
If you think about it LeBron James wants to win like Bryant does, they are cashing (Kobe’s) greatness. (Kobe) is Machiavellian, (win) by any means necessary.”
Mike Breen: “They were asking Odom about Kobe and his 8+ assists in the last six games, Odom said “if Kobe wanted to be the best point guard in the NBA, concentrate on distributing and not scoring, he would be the best point guard in the NBA.”
Mark Jackson: “I agree he has no flaws, but that’s not going to allow his team to be as efficient or good as they will be (if he concentrated on scoring). But here is a guy who has no flaws as a basketball player.”
Wow
Insane: On the 24th day of the month, and in the 81st NBA season, LeBron James signs with the Philadelphia 76ers, Kobe Bryant’s birthplace.
We should’ve known all along. (h/t @fliff)
