Judge Mary Rowland called him the "puppeteer" and gave him a year MORE than prosecutors asked for.

We've all seen Dorothy click those ruby slippers together in The Wizard of Oz. But would you believe the most famous shoes in movie history weren't originally supposed to be red?
And that's just the beginning!
1. They were supposed to be silver.
In L. Frank Baum's original 1900 book, Dorothy wore silver shoes. MGM changed them to sparkling ruby red for the 1939 movie to make the most of Technicolor.
2. There wasn't a single ruby on them.
The slippers began as ordinary white pumps. Costume designers covered them in red fabric and thousands of shimmering sequins, then added decorative bows with beads and rhinestones. Movie magic!
3. The Smithsonian's pair doesn't match!
Here's one I didn't know. The left shoe is marked size 5C, while the right is 5BC. They're actually from two different pairs made for the movie!
4. They had a secret underneath.
Orange felt was glued to the soles of many pairs to muffle Judy Garland's footsteps on the wooden sets. Apparently, even magical shoes needed a little soundproofing. 🤣
5. One pair sold for $32.5 MILLION!
In December 2024, a surviving pair sold for $28 million at auction, or $32.5 million including the buyer's premium. Those slippers had previously been stolen from a museum in 2005 and recovered by the FBI in 2018!
Eighty-five years after the movie premiered, those little red shoes were still making history.

In October 1970, a young British singer-songwriter named Elton John released a song in America that would help launch one of the biggest careers in music history.
The song was “Your Song,” and its beginnings were surprisingly simple.
Bernie Taupin was just 17 when he wrote the lyrics in 1967. He and Elton were still trying to make their way in the music business, and Bernie reportedly wrote the words on a piece of paper over breakfast at Elton's mother's house. Elton sat down at the piano and came up with the melody in about 20 minutes.
The song appeared on Elton's second album in April 1970, but when it was released as a single in America that October, radio stations began picking it up. It eventually reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Elton's first major American hit.

The sheer ignorance and arrogance of this woman are unbelievable. She challenges Charlie, yet he gives her the opportunity to speak, listens, and responds without losing his composure. I don't know how he had so much patience with people like this.
But what really gets me is her response to the double homicide question. According to her reasoning, whether killing a pregnant woman and her unborn child counts as two homicides depends on whether the mother planned to keep the baby. Seriously? Since when does someone's intention to continue a pregnancy determine the value of an unborn child's life? The contradiction is astounding.
Charlie faced countless confrontations, yet he continued showing up, having difficult conversations, and standing firm in his convictions.
