Thank goodness we’re being entertained with all this EU associate membership bullshit. Otherwise, Canadians might actually start paying attention to what our economic genius of a Prime Minister is delivering at home.
While Mark Carney talks about Canada’s grand European future, here’s what’s been happening to Canada’s economy since August 1.
📉 110,000 jobs lost in August and September alone.
📉 71,000 full-time jobs lost over those same two months.
📉 GDP growth: 0% in August. September’s preliminary estimate? Another 0.1% contraction.
📉 Manufacturing: Motor vehicle and parts production fell 5.8% in August.
📉 Wholesale trade: Down 1.4% in August.
📈 Inflation: Up to 3.1% in September, while gasoline prices were 27.8% higher than a year earlier.
📉 Labour-force participation: Down to 64.8%, its lowest September-era level in decades, excluding the pandemic.
📉 Exports to countries other than the United States: Down 8.5% in August. Our trade deficit with those countries widened to $7 BILLION.
📉 Job prospects: The job-finding rate fell to 30.6%, compared with a pre-pandemic average of 36.5%.
And while Canadians deal with these numbers, we’re being invited to celebrate a proposed EU associate membership arrangement that doesn’t even have an established legal framework.
Better yet, the EU couldn’t agree on the terminology and removed it from the summit declaration.
I’m not opposed to expanding international trade. I’m opposed to allowing grand announcements about tomorrow to overshadow measurable economic results today.
Jobs disappearing. Growth stalling. Prices climbing.
But don’t worry, folks.
Apparently, the future is European.
The question is whether Canadians can afford to wait for it.

It's important for South Africans to know that their leaders have no problem with regression and decline into the gutter.
As long as they remain in power, like their Zimbabwean counterparts, they will be content, even if they rule over ashes.
They have no problem with big cities like Johannesburg losing their world-class standards: water systems with efficient reservoirs, treatment plants and a complete water network.
The Third World begins the exact moment a society alters its daily life to accommodate the failure of the state, rather than forcing the state to fix the failure.
It is defined by what the people learn to live with.
When a community accepts that municipal water will never run from the tap, and instead celebrates a plastic bulk water storage tank as a luxury, that is the Third World mindset.
When citizens buy private generators, dig private boreholes, hire private security and pay private medical bills, all while continuing to pay taxes to a corrupt ruling elite, they are actively financing a Third World reality.
The infrastructure collapses because the public's threshold for outrage has collapsed. Mediocrity becomes the national baseline.
Rhodesia had clean running water from its taps. Later the water was no longer clean, and eventually it was absent, so people reverted to wells and boreholes. These alternatives are not innovation or smart solutions. They are a decline into mediocrity. Cities are not villages, and service delivery standards must remain standards.

They are taking the NATIONAL DEBT and subtracting the PENSION SAVINGS of Canadians to make our debt look smaller.
That's almost a trillion dollars in pension assets!
And they're using that smaller number to justify borrowing $733 billion more.
And when Canadians ask if this is responsible, the government points to our pension savings.
But here's my question:
Can the government use Canadians' pension money to pay off its debt?
If the answer is yes, Canadians deserve to know.
And if the answer is no, then stop using our pension savings to make the debt look smaller!

Interpol has confirmed the arrest of Punjab gangster Amritpal Singh Bath in Canada after a routine police stop reportedly exposed his identity. Bath, who is wanted in nearly 20 criminal cases, was caught on October 8 when Surrey Police stopped a vehicle in the Whalley area of Surrey, British Columbia, after noticing erratic driving.
Police initially intended to check the driver for possible impairment. Bath was sitting in the passenger seat and allegedly identified himself as Harpreet Singh, presenting an identity document under that name. However, the document appeared suspicious, prompting officers to investigate further.
According to reports, a database search revealed that Bath was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice. He was detained and handed over to the Canada Border Services Agency, where he reportedly remains in custody.
Surrey Police spokesperson Ian MacDonald said authorities had not known Bath was in Canada. It is also unclear whether the driver was aware of his identity.
A resident of Mianpur village in Punjab's Tarn Taran district, Bath is wanted in cases involving murder, attempted murder, drug trafficking and extortion.
Punjab Police has confirmed the development and reportedly started the paperwork to bring him back to India. He is expected to face deportation or extradition proceedings.
