“This is the dilemma of the #Uganda-n child born between the late 80s and the 90s: a generation raised on the promise of infinite hope anchored on the heroism of a [guerilla] savior, or what I like to call a ‘political daddy’.”
First Substack article. Happy ‘Independence’ Day.

The ADHD dream career is being a professional "idea generator" who sits in a room for 1 hour, solves everyone else's complex workflow bottlenecks with chaotic lateral thinking, and then vanishes into thin air before anyone asks for a written report.

📌 Same as rapists. And capitalists. And horrible bosses. And crooked ‘comrades’,etc. Every aggressor within a system of oppression is keen on selling you what the same system has established as ‘fair’. Whether that is democracy, or police, or economics, or court, or ‘procedure’.

People get so upset when you don’t allow them to play in your face and condone their bad behavior just to maintain a cordial relationship with them. The more you let people walk all over you, the more they like you. Once you set boundaries, you become the big bad wolf.

Jesus. The perimeter wasn’t enough, they gotta pollute the air and distress the people some more?
Police officers have deployed tear gas and established a heavy perimeter at 9th Street on 1st Avenue in Eastleigh to control surging crowds gathering at the site of the collapsed building.
Emergency response commanders stated that large crowds and traffic congestion were blocking access for heavy excavators and ambulances attempting to reach trapped survivors.

The DR Congo is actively going through a genocide. This is cruel 💔
A lot of things might be uncertain, but at least you’re not spending your Friday at a compulsory self-important corporate event with a two-hours-late chief guest minister who is boring a whole into your brain with his long, equally self-important speech.
Kindness is an ongoing self-reckoning. It requires digging into the depths of oneself for more. And more. And some more. A frequent moment of truth between who you could safely, acceptably be, and how much more you could be. It is the area beyond the socially acceptable line.
Stuart Hayford [Ato Essandoh] is my favorite Stuart on US Television, since Family Guy’s Stewie Griffin. Very different characters, similar endearment. I was ready to take out Penn myself for firing him, glad the writers made the team stand with him.

Kid Cudi just announced that he’ll play Jean-Michel Basquiat in ‘JEAN,’ a film he will also write and direct. Filming is expected to begin in 2027, marking his third feature as director after the upcoming ‘Doe’ and ‘Wrong Number.’
Cudi shared an early wardrobe test alongside the announcement, explaining that years of suggestions he should play Basquiat finally pushed him to write the film himself. He describes it as “a love letter to Jean, the 80s and NY city,” drawing on research and conversations with people who knew the artist.

The literacy crisis isn’t that people can’t read the words. It’s that they can’t understand the context, infer meaning, recognise nuance, identify contradictions, or draw logical conclusions from what they’ve read
Women and girls, once again bearing the brunt of these idiots’ actions. A reminder that the church has often been and continues to be, among other things, a site of gendered abuse and exploitation.
