13 years ago, I had just been reelected to Congress when my life and community changed forever. Six people were killed, 12 others injured, and I was shot in the head at a Safeway in Tucson. Our community lost so much that day, but we came together and found hope in one another.

Today marks 13 years since six people were shot and killed and 13 people were injured, including our founder @GabbyGiffords, at a Safeway in Tucson, Arizona. As we remember the lives that were taken and those forever changed that day, we will never give up the fight to prevent future tragedies.

Banning ghost guns had bipartisan support amongst DAs because it is a matter of public safety. Also, the ban keeps domestic violence offenders & minors from making their own gun. And prohibits a “switch” for converting a semi-automatic to automatic. cpr.org/2024/01/02/colorados…

Today, I am back at the Capitol working to reduce property taxes, provide rental assistance, and financially help folks struggling to make ends meet. Coloradans need relief during this affordability crisis. – at Denver, CO

IT’S THE GUNS. Civilians shouldn’t be able to purchase actual weapons of war. These are firearms designed for the battlefield, not American neighborhoods. It’s time for Congress to reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban - if you’re ready for change, text BAN to 644-33 or click below to tell Congress it’s time: act.everytown.org/sign/awb-2…. We don’t have to accept this as our reality - and we won’t.

A night of fun shouldn’t so easily turn into a nightmare of violence. Illinois has some of the strongest gun laws in the country, but until surrounding states and federal leaders act, guns will continue to be too easily accessible. cbsnews.com/chicago/news/15-…

...and we won't be lectured by someone who was an escort, didn't graduate from high school, abd has numerous DUI. SIT DOWN, GURL!
I’m not going to be lectured about gun safety by people who think the “AR” in AR-15 stands for “assault rifle”.

I spoke with 9News last night about Boulder’s assault weapon ban and how upsetting it is that this common sense measure to protect our community has been held up in court. Excerpts attached, full story at 9news.com/amp/article/news/l…

All Americans should be horrified and outraged by the brazen terrorist attacks on Israel and the slaughter of innocent civilians. We grieve for those who died, pray for the safe return of those who’ve been held hostage, and stand squarely alongside our ally, Israel, as it dismantles Hamas. As we support Israel’s right to defend itself against terror, we must keep striving for a just and lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians alike.

Had a great town hall today! We were inspired by Senator Coleman’s words to enact the change we seek in our communities. Thanks to all who came out to engage with us, to Bro. Jeff for hosting & Fathima Dickerson for catering! See you for the next one in November!

Inspired by @ColemanforCO’s emphasis on democratic engagement! Seeing advocates at the Capitol fuels progress. Our real work starts post Election Day, tackling community issues together. Your involvement matters, and through that we’ll shape a better future for our community.
