Slavery was an evil in which people from every continent and region participated. We should be honest about the whole history, not select the parts that are politically convenient today, especially given Britain's leading role in ending the transatlantic slave trade. If Caribbean countries are asking Britain for a formal apology for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade, will they also be asking the same of the descendants of African kingdoms, rulers and merchants who captured, sold and profited from the trade? On demands for reparations, whether through cash or debt relief, we have been down this track before. Twenty-five years ago, Jubilee 2000, Drop the Debt and Make Poverty History argued that cancelling the debts of poorer countries would give them a fresh start. More than $100 billion of debt was eventually written off, but many of those countries have since built up even bigger debts. Labour are already spending too much on Britain's welfare state, now is not the time for Andy Burnham to be providing global welfare. There is no reason British taxpayers today should be held financially responsible for things that happened generations before any of us were born. And I have even less patience for political elites in commonwealth countries who don’t know how to make their own citizens prosperous now looking for another opportunity to blame Britain. As Prime Minister, Andy Burnham should be Britain’s greatest defender. Instead, he is writing articles saying we need to confront our history (as if we haven't done enough of that) and considering another formal historical apology. Tony Blair already expressed Britain’s deep sorrow and regret for our role in the slave trade nearly twenty years ago. There is no need to do so again. This is all another navel-gazing distraction. The Commonwealth should be looking forward, not endlessly backwards. That means economic partnerships to make us all richer and deeper military and security cooperation against common threats. If every Commonwealth summit becomes an exercise in presenting Britain with demands for cash then we need to start asking if it is worth the effort.

Nothing highlights the fiscal failure of this government more starkly than the plight of Poundland. The chain's 600 stores and 12,000 workers sit on the verge of collapse, not because its customers have walked away - Poundland's sales grew by 6.7% in September - but because of this government's unaffordable tax rises, which makes it impossible to run a business that works on slim profit margins to keep its prices down for its customers. How ironic that a government preaching about helping the least well-off is forcing a company out of business that does just that.

You are the laughing stock of the world. I don’t care where you come from or which community you serve. Get your finger off the f***ing trigger, unless you are about to shoot someone imminently. Page one. Line one. Lesson one.

Teach Black children their history? ABSOLUTELY! But teach them ALL of it, not some carefully curated historical narrative designed to leave them perpetually angry, resentful, and convinced that their future is imprisoned by their ancestors’ past. You want to teach them about slavery? EXCELLENT! Then let’s teach them about the African kingdoms and merchants who captured, enslaved, and sold other Africans. Let’s discuss the Kingdom of Dahomey, the Asante Empire, and the role African intermediaries played in the transatlantic slave trade. Let’s teach them about the Arab slave trades, which operated across centuries, and the indigenous systems of servitude that existed in Africa before Europeans arrived. And absolutely teach them about European colonialism, the Atlantic slave trade, the barbarity of plantation slavery, and the laws that systematically deprived Black Americans of their liberty. But don’t you dare selectively edit history to manufacture an eternal racial grievance. Let’s teach Black children about Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Booker T. Washington, George Washington Carver, and the extraordinary accomplishments of Black Americans who refused to let oppression define the boundaries of their existence. Let’s teach them that African history did not begin with slavery and that Black American history did not end with emancipation. Let’s teach them about African civilizations, scientific achievements, entrepreneurship, intellectual independence, family formation, and the extraordinary resilience of our ancestors. And while we’re examining historical culpability, let’s examine the American political institutions that defended slavery, enacted Jim Crow laws, and resisted civil rights. Let’s name the politicians, examine their party affiliations, and acknowledge how those parties and their coalitions changed over time. No selective amnesia for anybody. Here’s where I fundamentally disagree with you. You appear more interested in teaching Black children whom to resent than teaching them what they can accomplish. My ancestors endured extraordinary suffering. Their suffering deserves historical accuracy, reverence, and remembrance. It does not require me to surrender my intellectual independence or teach my children that their destiny is controlled by people who lived centuries before them. History should produce knowledge, not inherited animosity. Teach the entire historical record, including the uncomfortable chapters that contradict your preferred narrative. Because a child who knows only the atrocities committed against his ancestors knows only a fraction of his ancestry. And that is an egregious intellectual disservice. I will teach my children what happened to their ancestors. But I will also teach them who their ancestors WERE before captivity, what they accomplished afterward, and what they themselves are capable of becoming. My God did not create my children to spend their lives shackled to the grievances of yesterday. Teach history. Don’t manufacture helplessness. #AStoneGroove #SilentMajoritySpeaks
Normalize teaching your children about the twin evils of slavery and colonization. Teach them who enslaved our ancestors, who colonized our lands, who stole our resources, and how their wealth was built on our suffering. Black children must know their history — a history written in sweat, tears and blood. Never let them forget it.

Most captives sold into the transatlantic trade were provided by African kingdoms and traders to European buyers. The longer Arab trade enslaved comparable numbers. Modern slavery continues in parts of Africa. slavevoyages.org britannica.com/topic/transatl… walkfree.org/global-slavery…

🚨 BOOM: Marine Le Pen just addressed France while Macron hid, and she said exactly what he won't. She blamed "DECADES of anarchic immigration" and decades of rioters walking away without paying for what they burned. She called Macron a "GHOSTLY" president with no authority who "has lost all contact with reality." She said the destruction came from an alliance of political wreckers, antifa groups, and thugs from the suburbs. Her fix is simple. If you BREAK it, you PAY for it. "Violence is not an opinion," she said. That is what leadership sounds like.

This is a warning for every one of us who insists that Britain or France or Italy etc are just fine.👇 I have been shouting for decades - we must care about what we teach our children in our schools! No one was interested. I only hope people are willing to listen now.

🚨 BOOM! A shop owner in Lyon who spent ALL NIGHT guarding his store looked the city's Green Party mayor in the eye this morning and told him to RESIGN. "Are you proud today? Look at the damage you've done!" "You should be ashamed. You must resign!" Mayor Gregory Doucet came to see the damage in the city center, and police had to stand between the two men. Yesterday, masked rioters smashed and looted shop after shop and burned the city's historic tourism office to the ground. Some shop owners stood in their doorways with baseball bats because that was the only protection they had. Lyon made just 20 ARRESTS. This is what happens when leftists run a city. The rioters walk, and the shop owners clean up the glass. He's right. Resign.
🚨BREAKING: A man whose shop was destroyed confronts the mayor of Lyon: "Are you proud? Look at all the damage you have caused! You should be ashamed. You must resign! It's a disgrace! You are a DISGRACE to France!" France is furious.

If London was being burnt like the French towns and cities, I’d want to see our army take charge. The scenes across the channel are like a war. Very disturbing. And a warning what the left and some our new foreign intake are capable of.
