Another triumph for vibes-based foreign policy
Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered Israel to support Argentina over the Falklands, The Telegraph can reveal. The Israeli prime minister told diplomats to change his country’s official position and join Buenos Aires in calling for direct talks over the future of the islands. 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…

As I say in the piece: “It’s manifestly unfair that tax raised locally is spent on services in a different part of the country. A child in need of services in a rural area is no less deserving than a child in an urban area.”
Labour will sharply reduce funding for some of Britain’s most affluent councils and divert it to poorer areas, after Andy Burnham has promised to create “good growth in every postcode”. Councils in the vales and shires will lose £61m of grant funding from central government over the next three years, while urban areas will see an uplift of £2.9bn, according to ONS figures ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

😯 absolute betrayal of SEND parents
Simply astonishing🤯 Lucy Powell said the pay rise was fully funded. The National Education Union celebrated it despite warnings from many head teachers and the Conservatives that this wasn’t true. Now we find out SEND staff are being cut to fund the pay rise. Total chaos from Lucy Powell and it’s our must vulnerable children who are suffering.

This is quite staggering. To prepare for the third winter under the Labour government, it would be sensible to stock up on tinned food and batteries. They really are determined to take us back to the 1970s.
🚨Sneaked out by OFGEM this morning, a warning for the first time EVER they cannot guarantee that demand will be met on a peak day in winter. Let’s be clear what that means. They cannot guarantee that homes will be warm, lights come on or industry function on a peak day this winter. And why? Because of an accelerated decline in domestic gas supply from the North Sea. So what is the solution? For British bill payers to pay more, to IMPORT more from Europe (specifically Belgium) to keep the lights on in Britain. Britain. A country with vast supplies of gas, untapped, deliberately due to Labour policy now going cap in hand to Europe and paying vast sums to import foreign gas. It is utterly outrageous. You couldn’t make it up. ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/f…

Aghh. This lot are incapable of doing the right thing for the right reasons. Approving Jackdaw then announcing you'll spend the uplift of green energy is like getting a payrise and saying you'll spend it all on crack.
I want Britain’s energy wealth to spark a new wave of clean power. Our decision to approve Jackdaw alongside the new Energy Wealth Fund means we invest in green transition and benefit from our existing natural resources.

Who should run the countryside: the people you elect or agencies nobody voted for? Natural England and the Environment Agency answer to no minister. Homes are blocked and farmers are buried in red tape. Conservatives will scrap them.

A little bump for this, written back in July: henryjacksonsociety.org/2026…
Breaking: The Defence Secretary has just rowed back from 3% of GDP for Defence by 2030. This was the figure that caused John Healy to resign.

When you claim it's about education cuts and your pants literally catch fire...
In France, a rioter’s trousers caught on fire. Absolutely hilarious! I’ve watched this on loop and still not bored.

Transport fines for loud audio (since the government is now in 'thinking aloud mode') Notes from my commute today: - halve it for a Cypress Hill track I haven't heard in years - double it for bagpipes at Euston underground station

£3.1 billion for 623 Boxers. That's £5 million each, including programme costs 😬😬 At that price, our soldiers deserve more than a glorified lift to the battlefield For £5m a pop, we should be getting firepower to match the price tag - otherwise it's an expensive green minibus

The busiest job in Westminster is running after the PM with a dustpan and brush, sweeping up whatever he said five minutes earlier. Implying the 2016 referendum was illegitimate, until the entire govt comms machine scrambled to clarify what he said. Opening up a Scottish referendum, which his team had to shut down. Telling the WASPI women they deserved recompense, only to backtrack. Burnham is all over the place, making statements he clearly hasn’t thought through.

Charlie Ireland was supposed to meet with representatives of the Labour Party including 'The Labour Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' to discuss farming & agriculture. They’ve cancelled on him, for the third time.

Burnham's shtick of taking credit for dawn while blaming Thatcher for dusk isn’t sustainable. Already getting community noted for this 'like me, like me' slop.
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.   The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.   But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.   That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.   It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

Kemi Badenoch has one objective. To show the Tories, not Reform, are the only serious alternative to Labour. As people make that assessment they should consider this. The woman Reform want to take charge of our nation's education system is currently handcuffed to Katie Price.

Apart from how he likes his tea and his favourite biscuit, has he actually said anything he hasn't then had to walk back since he became PM?
