Out of high school, I had 0 Division 1 offers.
Fast forward a few years:
• Walked on at Arizona (Power 5)
• Entered the portal with zero stats
• Earned a D1 scholarship at Stony Brook
• Re-invented myself from Catcher ➡️ Outfield ➡️ 94 mph Pitcher
Here’s how I did it🧵
Unpopular Recruiting Opinion 🚨
Not all levels are the same! As a HS kid I would do anything possible to play D1 baseball.
Results at each level mean different things but D1 results get you paid and put food on the table.
That’s the difference.
RECRUITING TIP OF THE DAY 🚨
ALWAYS. FOLLOW. UP.
Coaches are busy people, sometimes they miss a call, a text.
Never hesitate to reach back out that could be the difference in getting ghosted and getting recruited!
My day as a former D1 baseball player:
7 am wake up
8-12 am practice
12-1 pm lift
1-2 pm treatment
2-6 pm class
7-8 pm homework
10 pm sleep
Every. Single. Day
Not all sunshine and rainbows.
You want to play D1. Be obsessed.
I wasn't a big name recruit with college offers lined up.
I was a regular student with 0 offers who learned how to
• Market myself to coaches
• Leverage social media & cold outreach
• Build relationships and negotiate roster spots
My knowledge got me to where I was
That’s why I started Berg Advising.
I built the exact blueprint so high school families don't have to navigate recruiting blindly.
If you’re looking for the right college roster fit, let’s talk.
