My favorite story in a long time
Some NPR podcasts started getting mysterious comments on Spotify. They made no sense to the staff reading them – until someone from a younger generation cracked the code. Hear the story: link.podtrac.com/phns92ui

"We're not talking about Joe Biden though. The Biden administration is over. We're two years into the Trump administration!" -- Tim Scott's desperate attempts on Meet the Press to defend Trump's economic mismanagement by blaming Biden did not go over well with Kristen Welker

WELKER: As Democratic leader in the House, would you vote for or against Medicare for All? JEFFRIES: It's not legislation that I currently am co-sponsoring or that I support, but I support the notion we've got to find a path forward to fix our broken healthcare system

WELKER: Can you pledge the DOJ will always act independently of the White House? BLANCHE: No, I'm not going to pledge that, and no attorney general ever should WELKER: So if the president asked you do to something that you feel crosses an ethical or legal line, would you do it? BLANCHE: He would never do that. He never has. He never will.

We are sending our deepest condolences to his family and colleagues. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will join us this morning to reflect on his life and legacy.

🚨 HEARTBREAKING: Scott Pelley Sounded Like A Man Attending A Funeral. Not for a person. For a profession. 🔥 That’s why his defense of journalism hit so hard. Scott Pelley confirmed on the record that CBS management ordered him to “inject falsehoods” into 60 Minutes coverage. He named Bari Weiss directly. He said she was brought in to neutralize independent journalism inside the network. He told 60 Minutes’ new leadership she was “murdering the show.” Pelley spent 24 years at CBS News. He just put his name on the record against the institution that built his career. The Paramount-Skydance merger closed. The new ownership installed Weiss. Pelley is the most senior on-air voice at CBS News describing what’s happening inside. This is what institutional capture sounds like from inside the institution.

That is some wild, unhinged stuff from the President. Welker is a good person and honest journalist and didn’t deserve that but more importantly we have a president who constantly pushes conspiracy theories with zero evidence and can’t respond when politely challenged on that.
Here's the full chain of events that led to Trump storming out of his interview with Kristin Welker, beginning with her pressing him on the weaponization fund, continuing with her pointing out the baselessness of his "rigged election" lies, and concluding with him calling her "crooked or stupid" and leaving

I was just laid off by The Washington Post in the middle of a warzone. I have no words. I'm devastated.
Waking up without power, heat, or running water. (Again.) But the work here in Kyiv continues. Warming up in the car, writing in pencil — pen ink freezes — by headlamp. Despite how difficult this job can be, I am proud to be a foreign correspondent at The Washington Post.
