So cool to see people using my app Signals, which I submitted to the #supernova hackathon the other day ♥️ People have left Signals in Hong Kong, Japan, Turkey, and lots of other places already! 😍
devpost.com/software/signals Go give it a like 🙏

We're so excited to announce our integration with @OpenChat
You can now send messages to people on Signals!
This is huge for the app, and we'll explain why below 👇
Huge thanks to the OC and @julianjelfs for the collab ❤️

Seems like now is a good time to tell new folks about what we're building on the Internet Computer 🤩 $ICP
Here's the thing - we don't think the apps you use every day should be controlled only by a small group of people with a vested interest
They should be controlled by you!
So our Prime Minister, who wasn't elected, now appoints someone who wasn't even elected as a Member of Parliament to the government's front benches.
✨Ahhh democracy✨
Call me a fool, but I actually believe that blockchain has emancipatory potential (part of what I'm exploring with Signals). Imagine if instead of shopping on Amazon, or using Google, you used platforms where the revenue was shared by the people and distributed democratically.
Why is sharing work with the world so scary? 😱
🚀 We've been quietly building some exciting features on Signals 🤓🤫

I need a cut for how much my questions are training ChatGPT on the IC 🙈 Wish you could turn on a "use my dumb questions for learning" mode to help others. Surprising how much it does know though, given the limited training data it must have.
This thread on Critical Code Studies is fascinating. The reason ppl can show empathy over other lived lives is bc they take the time to listen and learn from the stories - the basis of solidarity. The idea you can critique code without understanding it misses so many points 🤯
Replying to @y_h_j_e_t
this was later dubbed "the programmer's objection" so that it could be dismissed without actually addressing it

“La tarde” makes absolutely no sense & I always found it the most frustrating thing about living in Spain. Lunch often isn’t served until 2pm & I was always the first customer in restaurants at 9pm. Never got my head around Spanish scheduling.

I could go way more soppy, I toned it down here. Actually love everyone 😩
Wow what a week @dfinity! 🥰 To learn so much, make so many new friends, and feel excited about the future all in one is a rare thing!
We were already convinced, but to meet the team and see what a stellar cast of people they've assembled - you can't help but come away excited.
No faster way to piss off engineers 🥲
“And, I know this sounds petty, but they appear to have obtained the absolute worst coffee vendors on earth.”
`we're told that the standard greeting is "where are you interviewing?" and "where do you have offers?"`
Same thing my wife has been asking for the past month.

I'm so glad I quit my job this year to focus on building something I care about.
It can be scary looking ahead sometimes, given the state of the world, but the chance to use the latest tech to build different economic structures brings me genuine hope and joy.
Going into 2023 should I...

Imho it’s much more difficult (but necessary) to construct the future we want first in our imagination, rather than looking backwards!
This is my general approach to activism: I personally find it more enjoyable to creatively construct what we hope to be, rather than destructively tear down things we wish weren’t so (though I appreciate this is needed too, I just feel my energy is best spent in the former)
