Watching/reading Bleak House, the names fitting the characters' traits/stations/etc. helped me keep most of them straight. Krook was a crook. Snagsby was kind but somewhat naive and therefore easily snagged by Tulkinghorn at one point.

Clamb was entrusted with a lot of information and often had to keep it mum. Caddy is definitely catty toward her father-in-law. Mr. Guppy is a small "lawyer" in a large pond--I mean town. He's a showy fish, much like some of his namesakes.

Hortense means gardener. In this case, rooting around for dirt on those she doesn't like and slinging the proverbial manure at them. This has been fun. I'm not certain how accurate, but I enjoyed thinking on this.

While teaching storytelling in our homeschool co-op, I went over the different ways to organize ideas before writing their story. I showed the students (all 11-14) my planning notes, and the different ways I've done things. 14yr old: So, do you give ALL your guy characters PTSD or something?
