I am so proud of my mom who has been an RN for 40 years, went back for a masters in her 50s, started doing research, and is presenting a poster at a conference for the first time today. I hope I also keep doing new things when I am 62!

Funny story about this one, omw to the conference I forgot my poster in the bus. After a day of scavenger hunting, I found my poster, presented it, and won the poster prize. What a great recovery.

My CV is forever altered by the impact of catching covid in early 2020 (likely on a trip to present at a conference). I am mostly at peace with this now. But I’m not at peace with how academia still pretends we are not forever altered by the pandemic & concomitant crises.

Poster sessions are the real reason for conferences.
Last week @BagPhos walked up to my poster, saw a reaction I was struggling to get useful yields on for over a month, spent all of maybe 5 seconds thinking about it, rattled off a list of reagents, sent me a citation and then confidently said "that'll work"....
Picking the right shoes 👞 🥿 should be your primary clothing concern. Conferences often involve much standing and walking, and you need to be comfortable in your shoes for a long time. 4️⃣
