Ethiopia has never had, nor will it ever have, access to the sea by force, yet the Prosperity Party envisions a naval force on land.

Potemkin Party minions and war mongers seem unduly exhilarated by the purchase of 12 Su-35 jet fighters from Russia.
They believe, in the ominous words of their leaders, that this will indeed enhance the regime's capability for its "pre-emptive" war of aggression; oblivious to the legal and security quagmire that this will entail and the lessons from yesterday's history.
The Potemkin Party has indulged in a massive weapons purchase spree for a long time now as the link below demonstrates.
But massive re-armament will neither advance the PP's declared agenda of regional destabilization nor alleviate the dire sufferings of almost 70% of the Ethiopian population who live under abject poverty, classified as "multidimensionally poor" in accordance with standard economic metrics.
The country is also suffering from mushrooming internal chaos and spiraling strife - the upheaval in Moyale is the latest in the string of entrenched inter-communal conflicts - which stem from a dysfunctional governance architecture.
The Potemkin Party has got all its priorities wrong and, by all accounts, it will neither listen to the voices of reason nor retreat from the perilous path that it has chosen to tread.

The Potemkin Party continues to double down on its campaign of war and unremitting hostility against Eritrea by dwelling on revisionist historical narratives and the deplorable denigration of Eritrea's legitimate, decades-old, process of decolonization achieved through unparalleled and precious sacrifices.
In this vein, one of PP's official mouthpieces - Fana Broadcasting Corporation - disparages, on its X account today, Eritrea's overall development policy and what it dubs as "stagnation of Assab".
Furthermore, it laments the loss of "Ethiopia's Red Sea coastline", due, in its warped mind, "to conspiracy of external adversaries".
These pitiful diatribes are symptomatic of the incurable war psychosis that has gripped the Potemkin Party for years now.
Indeed, it is obvious that the PP will require massive reconfiguration in its mindset/soft-ware for reason and sanity to prevail.
As it is, the antidote for its multi-layered malaise does not lie in the propagation of revisionist history; and/or in the flagrant violation of foundational pillars and principles of international law.
The fact is:
1. A regime that is presiding over an ailing economy where 68.7% of the population are classified as "multidimensionally poor" (WB terminology) in spite of massive international assistance; and,
2. That is seething under interminable internal costly conflicts of its own making;
is not in a position to pontificate to its neighbours about astute development policy or the fostering of good-neighborly ties anchored on mutual respect of each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
nitter.gq/hawelti/status/1970139β¦
The obsession/political frenzy of PP (aka Potemkin Party) officials to manufacture a non-existent regional crisis in pursuit of toxic and illicit "sovereign access to the sea" is perhaps at its zenith these days.
The barrage of daily disinformation/provocation whose hallmarks are:
i) stale revision and distortion of Eritrea's history (statements at Ceremony on "Promotion" of the regime's top military brass on Saturday);
ii) willful intent to tamper with cardinal principles of international law, including the sanctity of colonial boundaries; and,
iii) reckless saber-rattling;
belie the misguided priorities of a regime bent on incubating regional crises to deflect attention from its multiple domestic challenges.
The Horn of Africa Region does not need or deserve another bout of unnecessary and avoidable conflict and turmoil; afflicted as it is by a plethora of other debilitating problems. This is the unequivocal message that should be conveyed - in no uncertain terms - by all those who harbour sincere wishes for the welfare of the peoples of the region.

Potemkin Party Officials (speech at 12th Tana Forum by Director of NSA) are invoking "increasing Red Sea militarization... and its consequences on maritime security" to argue for a "seat on the table for its stabilization".
The unhealthy obsession/irony is too palpable to merit elaboration.
This regime has been embroiled in, and has become the principal incubator, of the multiple and perennial internal conflicts that have gripped Ethiopia (Tigray, Amhara, Somali Regions etc.) for most of its relatively short incumbency.
It continues to host a military base in the Beni-Shangul Gumuz Region in western Ethiopia for UAE sponsored military training camp; main conduit for mercenaries; and for launching Drone attacks against the Sudan.
For more than three years now, it has declared an unprovoked war of aggression against Eritrea under the mantra of "sovereign access to the sea" and projection of "naval power" in the sovereign territorial waters of its neighbour.
Its destabilizing act against Somalia is another dimension of its delusional pursuit of "regional grandeur" and insatiable appetite for the status of a "surrogate mini-hegemon" under the beck and call of other regional hegemons.
This charade has to stop before it entails further regional chaos and turmoil!
Time to tell the aspirant "mini-hegemon" to shed these hollow pipedreams and grapple with its intractable domestic agendas. Time to openly pronounce - as the saying goes - that "the Emperor has no clothes".

United Nations Day: Address by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh
*"...As we reflect on the founding ideals of the United Nations, peace, human dignity, sovereign equality among nations, and international cooperation, we do so against a backdrop of a complex and shifting global landscape".
*"...Eritrea recognizes the vital importance of constructive, principled international engagement. Through frameworks like the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, our nation continues to collaborate with United Nations agencies and international partners in areas that align with our national development goals".
*"...We have made progress in public health, preventive medicine, immunization, sanitation, and community-based services despite considerable resource constraints. The United Nationsβ 2025 results report for Eritrea recorded routine immunization coverage above 95 percent, skilled birth attendance rising to 85 percent, and approximately 250,000 people benefiting from more reliable solar-powered water systems".
*"...Against this backdrop, the promise of peace and collective security enshrined in the UN Charter is severely tested today. We meet at a critical juncture where the peace and stability of our region are being actively imperiled by ongoing escalations and unprovoked acts of aggression against our sovereignty and territorial integrity".
*"...As Eritrea has made clear to the United Nations Security Council, our nation faces hostile provocations and aggressive posturing that flagrantly violate the UN Charter, international law, and the fundamental principles of good neighborliness. True multilateralism and the credibility of the international system are measured precisely by how it responds when the sovereign borders of a member state are threatened by external aggression. A 'rules-based' global order cannot remain in complicit silent, nor can it indulge double standards, when regional stability is systematically undermined by bellicose actions of a habitual irredentist neighbor".

#Eritrea: Delegation Statement at Sixth Consultative Meeting on Enhancing Coordination of Peace Initiatives and Efforts in Sudan
*"...The resolution of the conflict in Sudan rests primarily and ultimately with the Sudanese people. International and regional partners must limit themselves to facilitating a Sudanese-owned and Sudanese-led process, with the people and Government of Sudan at the center".
&"...Temporary ceasefires and partial measures may provide only limited respite and risk prolonging the crisis. The ultimate goal must be to end the suffering of the Sudanese people, restore peace and stability, and enable Sudan to begin recovery and reconstruction in a secure environment".
*"...It is therefore essential that our discussions translate into meaningful and collective action to address all factors contributing to the continuation of the conflict, including external support and interference. Without a concerted effort in this regard, our ability to advance a credible and sustainable path towards peace will remain severely constrained if not impossible".

Will the UNSC and the AU Rein in Ethiopianβs Expansionism and Aggression?
by Adulis Tewolde
*...Today, the Horn of Africa confronts another dangerous juncture. The current Ethiopian ruling party has explicitly framed 'sovereign access to the sea' as a 'strategic imperative', that must be 'ascertained through negotiations if possible and by force if necessary'. Ethiopiaβs intensive and provocative pronouncements conducted for over three years now as well as associated acts are indeed tantamount to a declaration of war.Β And finally, on 9 October this month, Ethiopia formally notified the UN Security Council that it has declared war against Eritrea under the preposterous allegations of 'Eritreaβs invasion''.
*"...Both the UN and the AU are intergovernmental organizations designed to reflect the collective position of their member states. In this context, it is imperative that these institutions uphold, without any equivocation, the fundamental pillars of the UN Charter and the AUβs Constitutive Act on the full respect of sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of all Member States. Indeed, respect for these principles is sine qua non for peaceful relations between States".
*"...Eritrea has already paid a heavy price for the international communityβs past failures. Its long struggle for independence and its insistence on the implementation of the EEBC decisions underscore the importance of defending sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the peaceful settlement of disputes".
*"The question now is whether the institutions established to safeguard international peace and security will fulfill their responsibilities. Will the Security Council, the African Union, and the wider international community rein in Ethiopiaβs Prosperity Party expansionist ambitions and deter aggression? Or will the defense of the UN Charterβs most fundamental principles once again be left to Eritrea alone, with all the catastrophic costs that such a failure entails".
