Dear Julie Vignola, If you think the Governor General is expensive, just wait until you find out how much elected presidents cost. #QP

The budget of @JohnTory leads directly to this. Cuts have impacts. Anyone running for mayor needs to be held to account for supporting this past budget and to explain how they will fix this #TOPoli #JohnToryLowTaxDiscountWorldCity – at Toronto, Ontario

Bev Oda didn’t resign over orange juice. She changed hotels to a more expensive one so that she could smoke in her room, and she had a demonstrated pattern of expensing limousines. It was never about the orange juice.

I know that the mats from the rink were probably heavy But having the workers park on the walking path, so that the truck then parks on the grass, while the backhoe pulverizes the grass as it loads the mats I dunno. Is a lighter touch not possible? @TorontoPFR – at Dufferin Grove, Toronto

OMOV is not actually democratic! It has the appearance of it, but it lacks the fundamental mechanisms and accountability that democracy should have. Caucus selection is actually democratic because it is elected members who choose and who can hold the leader to account.
Why do Dale Smith and quite a number of others so vehemently dislike democracy. Is it because you think the rest of us are too dumb to deserve it? Oh my God that's it isn't it.

In Mr Tory’s TO a rainy February day doesn’t warrant protecting unhoused people from the elements Because in the richest and largest city in the country, it’s cheaper to let them freeze outside @JohnTory, the austerity dispensing @Roger’s Mayor, continues to disappoint #TOpoli
Today, people are asking me for #TTC fare to go to a warming centre. I have to tell them that @cityoftoronto did not decide to open them, and unfortunately there's nowhere to go after we close. They are asking me why, it's wet and cold outside, and I have no answer.

The largest and richest city in the country refuses to protect unhoused people from the elements. Because it’s cheaper not to. Mr Tory, fan of austerity, part-time Rogers Mayor, continues to underwhelm the people of this city.
BREAKING: The City of Toronto has officially voted against implementing 24/7 warming centres to protect unhoused people from suffering & freezing to death. The way this city treats unhoused people is just disgusting.

"We don't want homeless people on the TTC, so we're going to pay $1.7m/mo for 80 cops to patrol the TTC; we can't open 24/7 warm spaces to give people somewhere to go besides the TTC because we don't have enough staff" is a problem with an easy solution.

Breaking: man with gun tells pedestrians that they’re responsible for not getting hit by 3 ton steel battering rams. – at Jersey City, NJ
Road safety is everyone’s responsibility. In our 3-part series on #roadsafety, we’ve touched on the roles of drivers, cyclists, and now pedestrians. Did you know that when the flashing hand with a number countdown begins, it is no longer safe to begin crossing the street?

Politicians and the rich are very well aware of the seriousness of sars2 infection. They are creating an environment where they are absolutely not treating it like a cold. At the same time working people and families are told we don’t need mitigations. It’s a vascular disease.
Everyone at the World Economic Forum annual meeting — including journalists and participants — has to take a PCR test upon arrival. If you don’t take a test, the chip in your ID badge is deactivated. If you test positive for Covid the badge is also deactivated.

# of COVID deaths per year in Canada: 2020: 15,307 2021: 14,606 2022: 19,035 Let's get one thing straight: 2022 wasn't the year that we “learned to live with COVID.” It was the year we were told to ignore COVID while it continued to cause mass suffering, disability, and death.

Trudeau isn’t withholding health care money. He’s protecting health care money from ending up in a slush fund.
Seems CBC is pushing the narrative that the Trudeau government is withholding a needed bump in healthcare transfers. I support Trudeau's stance that new increases must be tied with simple accountability & transparency. @fordnation hasn't accounted for unused federal COVID19 $s

A sitting Toronto city councillor @Mark_Grimes, who was a mayor @JohnTory council ally, actively sabotaged a city program on behalf of the @BlueJays, which is owned by a corporation that pays the mayor $100k/year. Nothing to see here, of course.
Replying to @BenSpurr
Here's a link to the integrity commissioner's report. Among other findings, it says that the now infamous letter from Blue Jays CEO Mark Shapiro opposing ActiveTO was ghost-written by former councillor Mark Grimes toronto.ca/wp-content/upload…
