He's not in the AHL. He needs surgery on both of his knees, they are doing them one at a time. So, he is out for a LONG time.
They are mad at ownership over the luxury hotels in downtown comment by David Hoffmann, Wheeling being dropped as the ECHL affiliate and the Milkshake Factory being dropped as the ice cream sponsor. They see it as the out-of-town bad guys coming in to "disrespect" their hometown or some weird shit. Entirely agenda driven nonsense.

The Penguins new owners come from private equity. There is speculation that the team has a new internal budget. They ditched the local ECHL team and some local concessions.
