On Allie Stuckey's 2022 Valentine's Day podcast, Sey and now wife, explain the hurdles that he jumped through to get a visa to enter the US.

Consular officers assessing B visas are required to presume immigrant intent under INA § 214(b) and to probe ties abroad. Declaring an intent to marry and remain would normally have led an officer to refuse the B visa and direct the applicant to the K-1 process.
Sey lied to get into the United States, and now his allies claim this was a clerical error.
