Been on a Elizabethan kick lately and rewatched both ELIZABETH and ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE. Currently on MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS, and wow, just from a visual standpoint, the former two are sumptuous in embracing color while this one is erm⊠mucky?

Today is the last day of the summer semester and I still have 30+ short essays to grade. Which would be fine and quite delightful if I didnât have to check every damn one for AI writing. I can read a 700-page book in 24 hrs but this just saps my will to liveâŠ
So⊠#Supergirl was a fun movie. It had whimsy, it had a POV that didnât seem utterly generic, it had Krypto. Milly Alcock was believable and charming. And, it clocked in at under 2 hrs.
Showed my partner this interview and it was a vibe⊠and now weâre drinking negronis. Sbagliato. With prosecco in it.

My ick is a person who 1) talks while masticating, and 2) a person whose entire mouth moves while masticating. Just chew like a repressed person gritting their teeth and swallowing their feelings. Sheesh!
As someone who has spent many a graduation SWEATING in those PhD robes (even in AC, but much worse in outdoor ceremonies), I have to wonder why athletic companies havenât tried to market gowns made out of performance fabrics that breathe? Surely, thereâs a market for that.

Thrilled to announce that I'll be returning to DinoCon this year, as both a guest speaker and a vendor!
Here's a preview of some of the minis you can expect to find at my stall. As with last year, there will be a limited quantity of painted models available as well as unpainted.
Matt Dempsey will be speaking at #DinoConUK 2026 about how dinosaurs are reconstructed.
Palaeoartist, musculoskeletal biologist, and vertebrate palaeontologist, Matt's research focuses how our knowledge of living animals can be used to understand the biology of extinct ones.
