In the UK, 1 in 4 women experience mental health problems during pregnancy and the first 2 years after childbirth.
Read about how research is aiming to improve mental health care for new mothers in our latest #NIHR20 gamechanger at nihr.ac.uk/nihr20/gamechange…

ALT A graphic with a deep maroon background on the left and a pink graphic design on the right. On the upper left is the white NIHR logo with the text "National Institute for Health and Care Research". Below, the text reads: "Gamechangers — Postpartum depression - how can research help?". At the bottom center is a white "20 Years" logo. On the right is a vertical rectangular photo of a mother holding a sleeping toddler. The mother has brown hair, is wearing a striped shirt under a beige cardigan, and has a gentle expression with closed eyes as she holds her child. The toddler, wearing a pink long-sleeved shirt, sleeps soundly against her chest.

Red flags here.
@SwanseabayNHS claimed their Maternity Unit in Singleton was wonderful and safe, all while mothers and babies were being harmed everyday.
Patients were warning it wasn’t safe.
This seems remarkably similar.

Sobering thought. The sums aren't difficult, and yet...
'Analysts believe maternity and neonatal care in the NHS needs an extra £250m to £600m a year to reach safe standards.'
👉This is less than half the £1.3bn the NHS currently spends on compensation payouts for negligent maternity care..

Jesse and Aubrey. Two boys. The same cause of death.
Why should dying before birth mean less access to independent scrutiny, fewer opportunities to learn and fewer chances to prevent another death?
Same harm. Same justice.

So @ClaireCNWL @LucyGoBag my mistake was to not go to media about the 300 instances of accessing my notes by 60 different individuals, including the reading, printing and downloading of @GrenfellNHS counselling. Nor about the trust's attempt to cover up and then discredit me.
Agree - it does look odd. @LaylaMoran hasn't met with the Oxford campaigners, and has now decided that what OUH needs is a lovely new building. @YvetteCooperMP told the maternity taskforce ERGs she intended to meet with "everybody" - we hope that includes the OUH families.
Horrific and heartbreaking story.

Disappointing
A new maternity commissioner for England will be able to launch reviews and monitor progress - but not be able to make binding recommendations
That's according to letter from a minister seen by HSj
