@BishopbriggsAC #FiveFactFriday #BookWeekScotland J.K. Rowling was rejected by around twelve publishers before Bloomsbury accepted Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. International research shows that pupils who read for pleasure - even for just 15 minutes a day - tend to achieve better results in their exams. The most expensive book ever sold at auction is Leonardo da Vinci's Codex Leicester, which sold for $30.8 million in 1994. ISBN is an acronym for International Standard Book Number and is a unique identifier for books, currently issued in a 13-digit format. In 1929, author J.M. Barrie gifted the copyright of Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), ensuring they receive all subsequent UK royalties.
