If you can make a handheld for way less than $199, how much will a stand-alone, no screen, 4K MiSTer will cost? Even cheaper I presume.

Heh, were Amiga custom chips, CPU ever decapped and studied? I think that would be a good start. And that’s why we can get an ASiC Neogeo today because that’s how it was done. But I agree, until it’s done properly it is better to use FPGA.

Re-release an FPGA based system, or even better, an ASIC (like @PLAION's #NeoGeo AES+) one and you will have my undivided attention.

I will stick to the original Neo Geo re-releases. Don’t care for anything which has no historical value on the console.

I suspect they are going to release a bunch of vibe ported arcade games to the #Neogeo. Guess I’ll just stick to the official SNK Neogeo titles.

You get what you pay for. And if you don’t want to you can always wait until the cores are out of win/win. Expensive hardware, PCBs and extra hands on board won’t pay for itself.
