Let’s even take an extra step and think about the revitalization after a serious cool down that took place over many years now turning die hards essentially cardboard rich . . . The Pokémon Company (株式会社ポケモン) adopted VAIO Pro PG laptops as its standard business PCs. This is documented in an official VAIO case study. This is ordinary corporate procurement for hybrid/remote work after the pandemic—not special “Pokémon Center VAIO laptops” sold as products or consumer devices. VAIO promotes it as a standard business deployment case study. Kunitake Ando and his current work Kunitake Andō (安藤国威) was President & COO of Sony from 2000–2005. He was involved during the VAIO era under Sony (VAIO launched in the mid-1990s as a Sony brand). He later became associated with Jasmy Inc. (founded 2016 by former Sony executives), where he has served as Representative Director/CEO. Jasmy focuses on an IoT platform using blockchain for secure personal data management (often described with concepts like a “Personal Data Locker”), aiming to give users more control over their data rather than big-tech platforms. It has a related token (JASMY). Jasmy–VAIO connection There is a real (but limited) link here. In late 2018, VAIO and Jasmy announced they were exploring collaboration on next-generation IoT + blockchain products/services leveraging both companies’ tech and manufacturing. Later references include Jasmy’s “Secure PC” concept receiving endorsements involving VAIO, and mentions of secure PC solutions or Device-as-a-Service offerings using VAIO hardware. This aligns with Ando’s historical Sony/VAIO background and Jasmy’s focus on secure computing/data. VAIO itself has been independent since 2014 (spun out from Sony to Japan Industrial Partners). As of 2025 it is majority-owned by the Nojima electronics retail group, with Sony retaining a small minority stake (~5%). Ando is not involved in its current ownership or management. Implementation through many of Kunitake Ando’s previous connections can take place within the snap of his fingers imo .
