Andy Burnham has claimed it is “difficult to say” whether current levels of net migration are too high or too low. The Prime Minister also said he would not specify the levels of legal migration that he would like to see because it would restrict the Government’s ability to respond to skills shortages in particular areas. 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…

These people are deeply stupid … Labour Minister Emma Reynolds says employers are NOT “working people”. They’re “companies”. Oh Emma …99.9% of British businesses are SMEs, providing 60% of private sector jobs. And you just trashed them. ▪️95% of British businesses are MICROBUSINESSES. Ordinary people running shops, farms, cafés, building firms and family businesses. Working longer hours than their staff. ▪️ they take fewer holidays and have no guaranteed sick pay or maternity leave/paternity leave ▪️ Pay their staff even when customers haven’t paid them. I remember not paying myself. Often. ▪️ pay themselves LAST. ▪️ risk their own savings and homes through personal guarantees. ▪️ responsible for tax, regulations, pensions and employer’s NI. ▪️ company directors taking a salary, are on PAYE, just like their employees! They take all the risk! What a stupid comment.

The government’s grandest plane, an A321 jet, took off from Stansted at 6.05 a.m. this morning. Burnham wasn't on it. It flew 34 minutes to Manchester to collect the PM, then set off for the Commonwealth summit in Antigua. Guido estimates the detour cost around £20,000 of taxpayer cash. Avanti not good enough for him? Flight tracking data shows the jet landed in Manchester at 6.39 a.m. and left again at 8.06 a.m., heading for a refuelling stop in Newfoundland before the Caribbean. The government eventually publishes what every trip on the plane costs. Starmer’s same-day trip to Paris on in April came to £39,756 at roughly £20,000 a leg. Stansted to Manchester is shorter than Paris, but every additional leg brings its own landing and handling fees. About £18,000-20,000’s worth according to Guido’s fag packet maths… The whole jaunt, there and back, comes to about 21 hours of flying. Based on Starmer’s £121,239 trip to Yerevan in May and Yvette Cooper’s £148,700 trip to Washington in December, long-haul flying on the plane costs between £9,500 and £12,400 an hour. That puts Burnham's full trip at about £250,000. Burnham took the same government jet from Glasgow to Manchester in July to open No10 North, despite a choice of trains. When Liz Truss used the same plane to fly to Australia, @AngelaRayner called it a “ridiculous waste of half a million pounds on a private jet trip”. Thoughts on this one, Ange?

#Manchester has debts of £1.34 billion under Burnham so why was he giving taxpayers money away?
Andy Burnham accused of exchanging lunches for loans with China after lending £100 million taxpayer cash to firm with close links to Chinese Communist Party As Manchester mayor he approved a series of loans totaling £100 million to the Far East Consortium a China controlled firm between 2021 and 2026. The interest rate on the loans remains secret. This followed a trip to China in 2018 where flights hotels and lunch costing £4796 were covered by a corporate partner of the firm. FEC’s boss David Chiu served as vice chairman of the CCP’s state chamber of commerce from 2017 to 2022. Tory MP Katie Lam said it looks like lunches for loans and questioned Burnham’s judgment. There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by the firm and No10 declined to comment. More in comments
