Clear and unmistakeable commitment for decades. Meanwhile here, we are committed to … well, nobody knows exactly
Blessings and sympathy to the Davis family. Hugely influential man on basketball in the South, and clearly beloved by his family

We really missed out on a better tournament in 2026 by not having Auburn and Indiana in the field. NCAA stepping in to right that egregious wrong
Sources: The NCAA has initiated the final steps to expand the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments to 76 teams. The expansion is on track to be formalized in the upcoming weeks, with mid-May as the target. The 76-team tournaments begin next year. espn.com/mens-college-basket…

Big shakeup on the MT staff. Looks like from his insta account that he’s joining Casey Alexander’s staff at Kansas State in some capacity
Per IG, MBB Associate Head Coach Wes Long is no longer a part of the program.
“I am personally forever grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside the many good men on our staff, and the high-caliber men & women inside MTSU Athletics.”
Long spent 8 seasons in Murfreesboro and held the Associate HC title since 2022.
Liberty was not hit hard last year by the portal, but this is a big blow looking ahead to 2026-27
Liberty SG Brett Decker Jr will be entering the transfer portal, a source tells me.
At 6’3 190lb, Brett was one of the best shooters in the entire country. Has added much more to his game off the dribble as well. From Elizabethtown KY, don’t be surprised to see a ton of high majors involved.
Hearing Kentucky, and Louisville may have early interest here.

I agree with Sam. I’m fine with an intense coach and obviously Hurley gets results from his teams, but you can’t have a guy acting like this and pay no price for it

If you are the college basketball czar for a year, what would you do as your three highest priorities? You have all power, only your opinion counts.
I wish good things for Alston and Loofe. I used to look daily at portal maneuvers a couple years ago, but at this point I’m more of the mind that says “let me know when we have a roster finalized and I’ll see what it looks like”.
By this standard, I guess Houston should also can Kelvin Sampson and Purdue should dump Matt Painter

Todd Golden made an interesting point to me on the lack of upsets: Elite teams have gone from slanting towards skill + playing 5-out to going all-in on dominating at the rim. It’s a higher-floor brand of basketball and the hardest style for MMs to match:
