This sentiment from Philip Rivers is why whole teams opting out of bowls bothers me so much.

Fully agree as a coach.. but when time off is given, and schedule is given out months in advance.. and time is still missed and sometimes not communicated until the last second.. what should a coach's response be?

"I wanted to be coached.
I wanted a coach that would take me to a place where I probably wouldn't go if I tried my hardest still."
Don’t seek praise—seek the push.
Average players want to feel good now.
Great players crave the coaching that makes them elite tomorrow.

Who fights for you in the rooms you are not in ?
Who sticks up for you when no one else has the courage to do it ?
Who’s sitting at your table when no one else wants to sit there ?
Who prays for you because they see you like their own family ?
Those are YOUR PEOPLE !!!

I don’t keep up with politics enough to know anything about this guy. But, on this topic, he is hammering the truth. It’s about money, not about improving education for over 5 mil Texas kids.
It’s sad and embarrassing.
"This is our 6th hearing on vouchers in two years.
We haven’t had 6 hearings on teacher pay.
We haven’t had 6 hearings on student discipline.
We haven’t had 6 hearings on student mental health.
This isn't about education — it’s about politics." — @jamestalarico #txlege

I second this. Not have I ever heard a teacher teach an LGBT agenda, CRT, or anything else that Abbott has said we do. I have noticed a lack of discipline options, gross overspending on standardized test and government programs, and excessive administration.

And coaches are some of the last ones left.

One of the best gifts as parents we can give our children is to put them in positions where they're going to be uncomfortable, and then not bail them out!

Are you interested or committed?
Interested does what’s required.
Committed does whatever it takes.
Success doesn’t come to the interested—it’s earned by the committed.

Tough morning in our profession today. @coach_keller12 has been the best college coach that I have dealt with in my 26 years in East Texas.. I know that it is part of the profession. Just wanted to publicly thank him for always having an open door and being great to our kids!!

Texas public schools have grappled with soaring costs for utilities, insurance, and fuel, alongside an unprecedented teacher shortage. Despite these challenges, the Texas Legislature has not increased the Basic Allotment—the primary mechanism for funding public education—since 2019.
This stagnation has led to significant budget deficits across many districts, forcing some to consider program cuts, layoffs, and even school closures.
In the upcoming legislative session, with the state projecting a substantial surplus, there is a critical opportunity to address these funding shortfalls. #txed advocates are urging #txlege to increase the Basic Allotment to match current inflation rates and to implement automatic adjustments to keep pace with future inflation.
The question remains: Will the Texas Legislature seize this unprecedented opportunity to provide the necessary funding for our public schools?
