I came out to my mom today, the person I was the most scared of telling for many, many years. It went perfectly. What a weight off my mind, body, emotions and everything. I want to talk to her as much as I can now, and show her how much I value what she did for me.

It's official: the first forecast cone is out, and it makes this a 100 mph hurricane in the Gulf by Friday. Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle, this is the time to get ready.

Dover, DE went through a PDS (particularly dangerous situation) Tornado warning just a couple hours ago. Here's our coverage leading up to that moment, including early callouts on multiple unwarned tornadoes:

note that these unwarned tornadoes did get warned shortly after or at the end of each clip! I talk about areas of interest as soon as they're pertinent by my expertise :)

I logged on only to find thousands of comments about a run-of-the-mill QLCS tornado warning over Baltimore yesterday. I was confused, to say the least. This thread is all that should matter on those warnings, and I fear that it's going to go unread/unmentioned. Please read it!
🧵 (1/16) Instead of defending and/or attacking anyone, I'd like to make this conversation as a kinda cool educational moment for all. There is 100% some scientific radar analysis here that both sides have yet to consider. Follow this thread for some interesting info!

Let me know if you have any questions on the topic as well. I was attentive to these warnings and remember the radar data quite clearly, including after the warnings were dropped and some weak QLCS tors may have occurred on the east side of Baltimore to Dundalk.

one of the coolest tornadoes I've seen in my entire career watching weather just happened 10 minutes ago going up Greene & Viking Mountain ridge on the border of Tennessee and North Carolina this tornado formed literally going up the mountainside, then dropped 1000 ft!

Today's yallwatches have an 84.7% verification rate with an average lead time of 7 minutes. Incredibly good work occurring now, and 1 million views on today's stream today so far reflects that. We have multiple spots highlighted for potential Y'all Squad response as well!

Here's our coverage of the tornado that impacted the populated areas of eastern Evansville and Newburgh, Indiana. Focus on specific impacts were relayed with a 29 minute lead time before the city was in a tornado warning!

note that I try to reserve calling out areas of interest (especially for metros) for situations that have a decent chance of developing into direct impact, rather than stating every rotating storm could produce a tornado. It's an important measure to combat false alarm rate!

I've been out and about! Saw the sidewinder tornado today :) How are Ryan's yall watches performing - better or worse than mine?
Found him! Everyone has been asking where Meteorologist Andy Hill is today. He's out on "chase-cation" having a great time!
