The Fingernail I Clipped in 1987 That Changed the World Forever. No, I don't think there's been a book with this title published yet, but there soon will be. Please, please, publishers, no more "that changed the world forever" in titles or subtitles.
Thanks! I’m happy to be mentioned alongside Marilyn Stasio, and I remain convinced that the Charlie Resnick novels are a high-water mark in crime fiction.

That is very well said, but deep in my heart of hearts, I can’t keep from thinking how cool it would be to take my cart through Binny’s Beverage Depot and do a full Nick Cage.

Let’s go for another 4,000 at least! It’s been a pleasure.
I recently passed a milestone at @ALA_Booklist. Apparently I have now reviewed more than 3800 books for them over the past quarter-century, under the gracious guiding hand of @Booklist_Bill. Shall we aim for another 3800?

It should be an en-dash.
If you wanted to say someone was dashing in the style of Errol Flynn, would it be “Errol Flynn-style” (one hyphen) or “Errol-Flynn-style” (two hyphens). My instinct is to say one. Am I right, @BCDreyer @BryanAGarner @ArrantPedantry?

Just this morning I deleted “too far fetched” from a political thriller review I was editing.
on the upside if you're a political thriller writer I expect you won't be reading "this is a bit too far fetched" in any of your book reviews anytime soon

Sorry, too, to read of Lurie’s death. Big fan of Foreign Affairs and her wonderful Don’t Tell the Grown-Ups, about subversive children’s lit.

This is one of my bedrock assumptions about living life.
Alcohol is expensive but it still costs less than a gym membership.

Whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul . . . I account it high time to get to Four Seasons Landscaping as soon as I can.

Just saw @SteveKornacki reading the news in a blazer rather than wielding his pointer during election-night coverage. Couldn't help but wonder if, under the blazer, he still had his sleeves rolled up.

Love this book. Haven’t thought of it in ages but was able to find my copy resting quietly on a largely hidden shelf and will reread soon.

From my 4 1/2 yr old grandson, Elliott: “I have good news and bad news. The air is better in Portland now, but—and this is really, really bad, Pa—RBG died.”

I am so anxious to read this. Thanks, Nancy. I’m appalled that I’ve missed this book.
Backlist book of the day: This was one of the 1st 10 Penguins published, & it’s a delight. A failed poet takes over a pub & much ensues, incl one of the funniest car chases to be found in print. ⁦@TJHogglestock⁩ ⁦@nonsuchbook⁩ - I think you’d both enjoy this
