An oldie but a goodie. In 1968 a bunch of entitled hippy bastards sent a letter detailing their specious demands to the Warden and Fellows of Wadham College, Oxford. This was their letter of reply, which speaks to how far the academy has since fallen.

What insane leverage does Vivek Ramaswamy have to swing the entire executive branch of the government to go to bat for his “You were raped as a child lmao” ad?

It said a lot without saying anything novel or interesting.
The new Fielder movie is weirdly mediocre. Also wild that A24 was willing to pay a documentary subject and the film treats this ethical minefield like an anecdote on Holmes when it’s also about the directors and the production company. Anyways, my review. boxd.it/gUeS2b

Everyone knows how preposterous such laws are. Married couple drinks a bottle of wine together and has drunk sex. Hochul: “They're raping each other.” Why are politicians like this?
A proposed law would criminalize vast swaths of hitherto consensual and legal sexual activity. This is the fruit of moral panics. unherd.com/2026/10/a-dangero…

It’s disturbing how much contempt he has for the people he wants to govern.
After he was ejected, Ramaswamy mentioned the rioting in France: "Imagine a thousand of those people!"

Mississippi is one of those places that deeply need progressive police reform, not in any 21st century sense, but in like, the 1910s sense of "No, you can't just staff the local police with your inbred drunkard dimwit hick cousins, they also have to be at least semi-literate too"
Mississippi's attorney general says a Senatobia police officer was justified in the June shooting death of a 1-year-old boy while responding to a shoplifting call. The conclusion of the state's investigation follows months of mourning and calls for justice. cnn.it/4z0O5X6

Jefferson was an outlier who just happened to win in multiple landslides and who created a party so popular that America was de facto a one party state for 20 years
Replying to @JamesEisen1891
Sure. But Jefferson was an outlier among the American founders, most were alarmed by the French radicalism.

Freddie doesn’t want to advocate for any reforms that could weaken the power of teachers unions. If interventions can improve absolute learning then educators can be held accountable for not doing so. @annakhachiyan is right when she calls him “the final boss of the left.”
Replying to @dmalcolmcarson
He is responding to a podcast about an intervention that has been on the wrong side of that financial, political and social capital for generations, one with substantial evidence of its efficacy. He has a hammer: interventions don't typically change relative rank-order of students. He then sees every bit of advocacy for improving pedagogy, including ones focused on taking that seriously and providing absolute gains at all levels, as a nail to be pounded down by that hammer. He wants to position himself as the only one willing to tell the truth, but he is incapable of meaningfully responding when people accept the premise and continue to care about absolute learning - which can and does happen, and which can and should be improved.
