Some vascular plants from yesterday’s bryophyte meeting in Torquay. First, Horseshoe Vetch (Hippocrepis comosa)
Many wonderful bryophytes were seen at the Devon Bryophyte Group meeting in Torquay today, most of which defeated my limited photography skills, but this Marchesinia mackaii was more obliging
It’s not often you see a celebration of moss in your local theatre. Great work by @OurArtAndEnergy as part of their #TheMossyCarpet project on show at @TRPlymouth Support them at avivacommunityfund.co.uk/p/c…

A couple of nice species from the upper reaches of the Lynher today - Schistostega pennata in the depths of a rabbit burrow and parches of Cephalozia curvifolia on a dead tree. @BBSbryology
Not the best photos I’m afraid (it was a lively little thing) but could this be Heliophanus cupreus? @BritishSpiders
Checking for rhizoidal tubers on Bryum species can be messy, time consuming and sometimes fruitless, but worth it when you find a species for the first time. This is Bryum sauteri from a roadside bank in Cornwall
Hard Shield-fern (Polystichum aculeatum) is pretty uncommon in Devon and Cornwall, so I was really pleased to see some of the plants known from around St Dominick today.
Some images from a quick pre-lockdown trip near St Dominick in Cornwall - Neckera pumila, Frullania tamerisci, Hookeria lucens and Porella platyphylla @BBSbryology
